Crushed Oil Infused Lip Gloss Duo $66 Value

Before purchasing, I read the reviews and product description and excited to try this latest installment of B. B. Crushed Lip Gloss. First let me say I am not a fan of lip gloss, BUT the colors appeared very saturated and wanted to try something moisturizing. I've been using the B. B. Luxe Liquid Lip High Shine and while the are long lasting, they are very drying to the lips. This is nothing more than petroleum jelly with just a hint of color. For the price, I sent it back. If you're looking for something very subtle and not overly gooey as if you've just eaten a stick of butter, then this is for you.

I purchased two colors of this product when it went on sale: Slow Jam and After Party. On first swipe, I did not like Slow Jam at all. I could not see any significant color payoff. For reference I have fairly rich brown skin (think Coco Gauff or Simone Biles shade of Brown). I needed to give it another try before deciding if I wanted to return it and on second try, with lowered expectations I guess, I actually really liked the color. It’s a great subtle shade. If you just want a little pop-up color or maybe you’re buying it for a teenager in your life and you don’t want them to have super heavy make up on. The color is somewhat accurate to the color reference on the model however, those lip swatches are obviously photoshopped onto the model’s lips. So the color is useful for how it’ll show up against your skin tone. But if you have any darkness your lips, that will peek through/affect the color payoff. Likewise, the natural lines and texture of your lip will show through and that it dilutes the color a little bit as well. After Party, however, is a really rich, intense red that compliments my skin tone very well and the main reason I’m giving this a 4 vs 3-star review. For both colors, the formula is really heavy. I put a considerable layer of Vaseline on my lips at night so that they don’t dry out and they’ll be soft in the morning. That is what this lipgloss feels like - a thick layer of Vaseline on your lips. It’s comfortable but if you don’t like that feeling, pass on this product. It’s not terribly sticky and like any other lipgloss, it’s not transfer proof but again no lip gloss is. Overall, I’d give Slow Jam a 3.5 and After Party a 4. For me (at the sale price I paid) it’s not worth a hassle of returning the product given that I’ve swatched it and they’ll just throw it in the trash. Just manage your expectations with regards to color payoff, especially if you have darker skin.
