Order your normal size!
Last winter I bought a size M Eileen West nightgown which was of a very stretchy modal fabric, and it was indeed much larger than an M. However, all the cotton knit nightgowns are carrying the warning to size down, and the two that I ordered (sized down to an S) were, in fact, smalls, and I had to reorder in my normal size of M.
The nightgown is great, gave it three stars for the aggravation of the misleading size info.
