Purifying & Exfoliating Phytoactive Solution Toner

I was treated to some Chantecaille, and a mini bottle of this came with it. I experienced some stinging on application and for a while afterwards, and found this to be somewhat (but not very) drying. I was surprised when I looked it up to see alcohol is the 2nd ingredient (that explains the stinging), which I would not expect to see at this price point nor from this type of brand. Witch hazel has long been used as a natural astringent for oilier skins, so this is not surprising. I would not recommend this for sensitive skin due to the alcohol content, or for drier skins due to that and the witch hazel. I do think it will do a good job for combination or oilier skins though, it just was a bad fit for me personally and I also think a clearer recommendation for suitable skin types by the brand would be helpful.

This is a clear liquid toner applied after cleansing with a cotton pad. It’s light and has a slight mattifying effect on skin but it’s not drying. Over time it helps purify skin, decongest pores, reduces blemishes and lightly exfoliates the skin. It’s a great option for sensitive skin and a lot more gentle than many exfoliating toners that can strip skin. It has an almost undetectable natural scent. It definitely does what it says leaves skin looking clearer, more radiant and without any sticky finish. Like all Chantecaille products it’s effective and gentle to skin.
