Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadow

Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre eyeshadow is simply the best on the market. I tried using Charlotte Tillbury's version (too mousse-y) and Dior's (not enough pigment), and find myself going back to Chanel's version again and again. The formula is soft and pillowy, and can be applied with your finger or with the tiny special brush applicator that comes with the shadow. When I'm in a hurry, I swipe my eyelids with my favorite color -- the beautifully golden Convoitise -- to give my eyes a pick-me-up, and layer Chanel's Ombre Essentielle pressed powder shadow in Lotus on top for the perfect glowy eye! The Illusion D'Ombre doesn't crease or wear off during the day and the amount of pigment makes for a fantastic color. Thank you for this perfect product, Chanel! Highly recommended!

This gives the perfect shimmer for my lower lid area, and makes my blue eyes pop. The shimmer can be lessened with a bit of matte eyeshadow in a similar shade. It doesn’t settle in the crease of my lid and stays perfect all day. This is my second purchase of the particular shade...it’s part of my daily routine.

I started off buying two of these to try them out, and I ended up rushing to Nordstroms to get the remaining 4. I really love all of these colors. Even though they are supposed to be part of the fall collection, I think that most of these shades can easily be worked into a summer look. I will probably hold off on using a lot of the black though until the fall/winter. My favorite colors are ebouli, epatant, and illusoire. I would start with one or all of these three colors, depending on what looks you gravitate to. Emerville is nice as an overall lid color, and though the color is not necessarily unique the amazing application & color payoff make it worth the money. Fatasme is the hardest to apply without getting fallout. It is also the most glittery, so this color needs to be applied with a gentle hand to add some highlight. Overall I would put these in the same category as Armani's ETK Intense, which I also love. They are however a completely different type of formula and so not the same as ETK. They are very easy to blend, stay put when applied, and definately smudgable. They will dry down somewhat, but you will have time to smudge them out before they do. (They are not like the cream shadows from MUFE.)

Among all the brands who offer creamy eyeshadows, Chanel is definitely one of the best. The gel texture feels very smooth, soft and cushiony. It's easy to apply, easy to blend, set into powder, no creasy, long wear. I love the sparkly pink from the 2014 Spring collection, while the eggplant color is also quite interesting.

I finally decided to try this in Illusoire and it is absolutely beautiful for creating a smokey eye. Apparently a primer is not needed, but I wasn't willing to go without one. I use good make-up brushes and so far the looks I've tried include #1) pair with MAC' Pigment in Naked all over the lid right up to the brow so it acts as your highlight too. Place Illusoire in the crease, use black liquid liner on the upper lid (I like the precision brush pens made my Jessie's Girl waterproof and amazing, LORAC Pro or Physician's Formula which has a lash serum), use Illusoire to line your lower lash line, and apply mascara for a stunningly beautiful look...be prepared for the compliments that follow. #2) Using the matte lavender side of Estee Lauder's shadow duo in Amethysts on the lower lid only, next apply Laura Mercier's plum smoke in the crease and Illusoire on the outer V, black liquid liner upper lid, and Illusoire as your lower eyeliner. Last but not least #3) Apply Mac's Naked Pigment everywhere except your lid, apply Illusoire just on the lower lid, and lightly buff into your crease so it looks subtle and graduated, apply black liquid liner on the upper lash line, Illusoire on the lower lash line, mascara and go. I just got Epatant and am wearing it today...I love it just as much as Illusoire and will try other colors. I've tried applications with several brushes, and synthetic is best with this product. So far my favorite is Sitla #11 which I got for free. I also purchased Chanel Glossimer in Giggle and it's one of the "plummy" nude shades that will look great on everyone. If Chanel is too much of a spurge...also consider MACs pressed pigment in Black Grape...it's very pretty and offers similar pay off. You have to apply it carefully and tap your brush to avoid fallout...but it's lovely! I hope this is helpful. Enjoy.

Got Apparition( smokey, bluish gray) and Epatant (greenish/bronzer/khaki) based on your fantastic on line chat. Thank you Katie O!!! I'm wearing contacts and though I never had issues with the powder shadows--using Chanel, Dior an YSL--recently I had several back-to-back eye infections resulting from irritation from loose particles. Katie recommended cream and Chanel--along with Sheseido. I bought all 4 and like them a lot. Chanel better value, since the container is larger, the color more pigmented and it comes with a little brush, which I found pretty useful to draw a line--like an eyeliner. Not very useful to apply the shadow.beyond the lash line Cream requires some adjustment in technique. Dab rather than sweep. Finger, not brush. Soft wash of color and a lot left on the finger. You can enhance the color by dabbing more. More time consuming to apply than as sweep of shadow. But, so far so good in terms of eye health.
