One of the best pen liners ever
I really can't find any fault with this, except maybe the slightly higher price (if you use this nearly pen every day, you'll likely need a new one in just a few weeks, so it adds up.)
Formula: It's inky and deep (I got the brown because black can be harsh on me and it's a great neutral brown that isn't too red or yellow looking, it just reads as a less harsh black.)
I feel like the texture of the product is pretty even. I'm not sure if the bad reviews were for prior formulations, which I've heard could be patchy. I would never discount anyone's experience, but mine has been the opposite. The liner just flows out nicely from the tip and it's never been patchy or gummy, like some can get after a while. It is also very opaque and you may not need to go over your initial line, unless you want to. But if you DO want to, I love that it doesn't build up or drag along the first line you made. Just make sure to give it drying time.
Felt tip: My pens have all had the felt tip and it has not changed shape with use. It's not a totally precise, tiny pointed tip, so if you're used to that kind, you might have a learning curve. But it's so worth it. This pen, used at a slight angle, has a perfect tip for winged liner. You can also use it straight at the tip for a very tiny, tight-lined effect.
Staying power: I have slightly hooded eyes and nearly always get the dreaded transfer of liner to the middle of my upper lid crease, but this doesn't happen with this liner. It stays put forever, even on a hot day. Again, the key to this liner, since it comes out pretty inky and wet, it to make sure you give it at least a full minute to dry. Once it's set, it stays.

Inferior Product
As usual, a cosmetic firm has changed their product for the worst! I have no idea why they went from a turnable bottom to a shaker-type marking pen. The tip is a pleasant change, because the hairs of the brush can no longer get caught on the cap when closing the eyeliner capsul. However, the fact that you can no longer turn the bottom of the pen to allow chosen amount of liquid to flow to the tip is totally inferiior to the previous eyeliner product. There is no way to evenly distribute the liquid to your eye. I bought two, thinking that I was purchasing my old favorite, only to be totally disappointed with this unmanageable inferior re-designed eyeliner!! I would prefer to omit a star, but the site states in red that a star field must be chosen, so I clicked one.

The worst eyeliner
The worst eyeliner. The idea of new chanel eyeliner is not new. I used old liquid eyeliner probably for 15 or more years and I absolutely loved it. The new one is not as good as old one. May be it easy to use for beginners, but it is not as precise as old one, not as dark as old one, amount of color distribution is not homogeneous and very patchy and depends a lot on direction of way how you hold the eyeliner. If you like precision and clean, elegant look of eyeliner, it is not eyeliner that you want to buy. For smoky eyes it is OK eyeliner, but you do not need to buy from chanel to have messy look.

Bring bad the old formula and tip
After several years of using this eyeliner I am very disappointed with the fact they changed this product for the worse. Please bring back the previous model, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

they changed the liner...not for the better
I was very disappointed to receive my previously favorite liner in a new design. You no longer can control how much you dispense and it also seemed to smear easier over the day. I am now trying to find a new brand. So sad. They also stopped making my favorite eye cream!

Major disappointment!
I went today to get my forever loved liquid liner.i found today as they tried to order for me that it has been replaced. The brush tip that I loved is now a felt tip liner. No control of product amount. The old brush liner allowed precision w/o the need for perfection. The old liquid liner in my opinion was perfection. So sorry they changed and will now have to find a new liner. If I want a felt tip liner I can get that same product at a drugstore where my daughter gets hers for way cheaper. The old brush applicator was so easy to use, and I do not care for the applicator liquid holding the cap to apply. I left w/o my intended purchase and will not return until favorite returns!! I hope Chanel follows reviews and will PLEASE bring it back.
