Cape Back Column Gown

Attended an annual white tie gala and had already purchased a different dress but then saw this one and had to see if it would look good for my less than curvy "exclamation point" shape. Had to size up to a 12 for my waist and get the hips taken in but then it was perfect. My bust is smaller so usually I have to get the bust taken in but didn't for this one, so keep that in mind if you have a larger bust. Also runs long--I don't usually need things hemmed but had a good 2-3 inches taken from the hems of both the main white part and black faux cape of this dress. Yay free Nordstrom tailoring. Added opera length gloves and statement bling to take it up a notch for a throwback white tie look. Received so many compliments and felt like a celebrity wearing something this dramatic. So fun!

I’m 5‘2” I wear a 34 DDD but it’s slightly big on me, I’m more accurately a 32DD, 135 lbs, I wear a 6P with high-end designers but a 4P with stores that appeal to a broader audience that are known for vanity sizing, and because the reviews threw me off with sizing, I’ll go even further and say that with an old fashioned seamstress measuring tape I’m a 36” bust, 29” waist (no pulling) and 39” hips, I bought a size 6, and it fits like a glove! It is absolutely stunning, worth every penny, It does have some stretch and give in the fabric throughout the hips which is fantastic, it may have a tiny bit of less stretch at the top of the dress from the bust to the waist because there is a side zipper and a lot of boning in the construction, which makes it feel nice and secure, but obviously limits it’s potential to stretch, however, below the waist there is a good amount of stretch. The white part of the fabric feels like a very soft blend of material that has nice movement when walking, while the black part is made out of a more stiff poplin shirt texture almost like a mens shirt that’s freshly pressed with starch from the dry cleaners.
