Funk Platform Derby (Women)

I absolutely love the ways these look (though be aware the dusty blue is grey, lovely shade)...the truly square toe box, well-stiched moc toe, the platform...1970s oxford redux. Look fabulous with long flared jeans or wool pants. But I couldn't walk from the bedroom to the kitchen with these on my feet, so forget two blocks to the subway. They have absolutely no bend to accommodate a human stride, they are heavy, and they are slippery. (They are also too big for me but that's not their fault — I'm a 9.5, not a 10.) A pair like this with some cushier construction for the heel and platform and a sole with even a little traction would be a dream shoe. Still not an everyday shoe (heel height, pitch) but at least not dangerous. Breaks my heart but back they go.
