Burning Rose Candle

For $92 after tax, I would have expected more from this candle. I usually purchase Le Labo, Jo Malone or Diptyque candles & have always been pleased. I decided to try something new after always seeing Byredo around. I purchased the Burning Rose & while the smell was invigorating upon unwrapping it & taking it out of the box, I never smelled it after lighting. I let it burn for about 4 hours or so & after putting it out -- still no smell. While this candle is $20 more than Jo Malone/Diptyque & $10 more than Le Labo - I was expecting something that reflected that. With that said, trial & error is very much a thing, & I can say I won't be repurchasing again & will stick to the candle brands I trust & love.

So you've been waiting for a week for this candle to arrive, full of fantasies of burning roses and Netflix and caramel ice cream on the couch. And there it is. In a trendy, minimalist box that makes you feel sophisticated and chic. You struggle with opening it, debating whether to photograph it before or after. But the smell is so heavenly that you dive right in because you're not known for restraint (you spent $90 on a candle after all). You inhale it, savor it, swearing you have the nose of a sommelier because you can pick out the leather and the rose and the smoke and, wait, even violet or black currant? You feel like a genius. Until you light it up and curl next to it, all excited for the self-care you've been dreaming about . . . And nothing happens . . . Zip, Napa. Zero. Not the faintest trace of perfume in the air. Just a tiny flame on a sexy bottle. Kind of like that super-hot guy at the coffee shop until he opened his mouth, and you ran off because he had only wax where you have brain tissue. Although you're definitely not feeling smart now, with $90 less in your bank account, ignoring all the other reviewers who tried to warn you not to fall for the pretty bottle. Oh well, back to Dyptique you go. By-by, Byredo.

After reading some glowing reviews and since I’m already a fan of many Byredo products I was excited to get this candle. I am very disappointed in it. The past two mornings I have lit it and let it burn for two hours on the table right next to where I’m sitting. I can’t smell a thing. Nothing. It does not dispense any fragrance into the room either. If I could I’d return it. Don’t waste your money.

No throw. Thought it might be amazing. Bought the big one. No fragrance in a normally sized room. Stick with Jo Malone Red Roses. I fell for the hype and I feel a little silly.

I have purchased around 10 byredo candles and will never buy another. My most recent candle broke shortly after being lit because the glass is inferior to other brands. I emailed byredo about the problem and their customer service refuses to do anything about it. Never again!

Our daughter-in-law loves this candle. We gave it to her for her birthday recently and she was thrilled. It makes for a wonderful gift.
