Nail lacquers are my weakness. I own an embarrassing large collection of high end polishes (DIOR, CHANEL, Deborah Lippman and Butter LONDON). My Butter LONDON collection is my largest one, due to wide range of blues and purples, to which I gravitate. I love all my polishes, but since this is a Butter LONDON review, I will focus on it. The polish is very highly pigmented and very easy to apply. The color you see when in the bottle is what you see on your nail. I do not find that it chips more readily than Deborah Lippman, as some prior reviewers have suggested, but the ends will wear off if you using a scouring sponge without gloves. The solution is to wear gloves or touch up afterwards. Because it goes on so evenly, it is very easy to freshen up with a retouch. I like to change my polish at least once a week to reflect my mood or wardrobe. This is where Butter LONDON is my go to brand. Unlike some other glitter polishes, this one is easy to remove. It does require a little more time than non-glitters, but a fraction of the time to take off Deborah Lippman's. It allows me to wear glitter a lot, but allows to me to change colors easily. I get compliments on my nails whenever I go out. As an older woman, it allows me to show the fun side of my personality, yet still maintain a professional work appearance.

I am a self-confessed polish junkie so discovering lines that provide unique colors in a 3-free formula that are also streak-less and long-lasting is a beautiful thing. Butter London is a go-to polish for me. It is ridiculously easy to apply and their color choices are phenomenal. The polishes I picked up this purchase are as follows: Big Smoke - mildly metallic navy blue (my favorite of the bunch - beautiful!!) HrH - a proper, royal purple Aston - a warm toffee brown tone, but with tiny little flecks of silver glitter All Hails the Queen - softly glowing beigey nude/taupe tone with extremely fine holographic shimmer throughout Victoriana - texture, twinkling vintage blue, pale and slightly smoky British Racing Green - became a cult classic when it came out, dark hunter green with some shimmer I also use their base coat that creates a gorgeous matte surface on which to work. I highly recommend them ~ long nails or short, they make everyone's hands look their best.

I own several Butter London lacquers, and yes, I might be considered an addict.... But I was thrilled to discover that Chimney Sweep & Gobsmacked are the same exact shade of deep charcoal - making an elegant pairing for the new nail trend using different texture lacquers in the same color family for a fresh take on a classic. I used Chimney Sweep (a shiny glimmer grey) all over my nail, and painted Gobsmacked (a uniquely elegant, micro-glitter *matte* charcoal) just on the tips - an edgy, modern, "French manicure." I've loved Chimney Sweep for years - especially during Fall & Winter, but I just fell in LOVE with the utterly original look of Gobsmacked. Its micro glitter, deep grey, matte finish is surprisingly sexy and elegant - perfect for an LBD, or a subtle sparkle with formal wear. GOBSMACKED IS LIKE NOTHING ELSE - to keep the unique matte finish, I would avoid using a top coat. The finish texture is smoother than BL's traditional glitter lacquers, and has held up well without the protection of a top coat. It is simply stunning. I've tried numerous other lines' glitter polishes, and too often they fail to adequately cover, or just look "off" - with glitter particles either too big or too small. BL has achieved the proverbial Goldilocks-approved "just right" glitter ratio. Other modern "French Manicure" tonal matches include: GREYS: Chimney Sweep & Gobsmacked, REDS: Knees Up & Chancer, BLACKS: Union Jack Black / Branwen's Feather & The Black Knight, GREENS: British Racing Green / Thames / Stag Do & Jack The Lad, and COPPERS: Brown Sugar & Bit Faker.

My favorite color is Fairy Lights. I always get compliments when I wear it and I think that although the color is pink - it's still different. It has a really pretty metallic finish to it.

I love the colors in the Butter London collections and I have tried many, many of them. The problem is that they have all chipped after a day or two even when I use the Butter London base and top coats. I don't know what the problem is, but I get chips just doing everyday things. I am going to try using the Chanel topcoat or Dior Gel topcoat and see if I get better results. The colors are so beautiful and saturated and the nail polish itself does feel like "buttah" on the nail, that I am anxious to find a way to prevent the chipping.
