Amberford Taffeta Trench Coat with Detachable Hood

I love the style and fit of this coat. However, I was dismayed when I wore it for the first time yesterday to discover that the red dye from the polyester fabric transferred to the white top I was wearing underneath. (The cotton lining seems to be fine.) I have never had this happen with previous Burberry coats. I reread the tags and there is no indication that this may happen, nor was I told to wash it before wearing. While the coat is machine washable, the leather trim on the belt and sleeve bands are not. The label indicates it is not to be dry cleaned but all buttons are to be covered or removed prior to washing. I'm a bit concerned about how it will fare. As a result, I rubbed the polyester portion of the coat with white soft cloths and paper towels to absorb the dye. This seemed to work. Burberry needs to be made aware of this so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Hopefully, bleach will remove the dye from my top.
