Huge Solid Wool Suit

I have to say, I have shopped at Nordstroms for years and especially shopped multiple days at the Anniversary Sale. It actually hurts my heart to right this review, but I am just so disappointed with our experience, I think it is important for Nordstrom to know. This year I took my 22 year old to get a new suit. He and his girlfriend are big shoppers, but not Nordstrom shoppers. I was excited for them to have the Nordstrom experience. But it was incredibly disappointing and I wish we had went somewhere else. First, we spent a lot of time trying to find a suit in his size (tall and skinny). We tried on 3 different suits, before anyone asked if we needed help. Then when the sales person helped us, we determined the jacket needed to be bigger for the length, but needed to be taken in. Unfortunately, the size he needed in the color he needed, wasn't anywhere to be found. Our sales associate said it was in the store, but it was somewhere else, when they located it, They would text us. Two hours after we left the story, I got a text saying they found it. We live 45 min away, so it was NOT convenient for us to go pick it up. Our hope was to go in and get it fitted then have them ship the fitted product to him in North Carolina, where he was moving. But we just didn't have time. After buying a suit and shirt (the ties he liked were so expensive, he decided he wanted to look somewhere else) we went to the shoe department to purchase dress shoes. There were 2 sales associates in the department. The only thing they did was go get shoes and hand the box to us, then went behind the counter to ring things up. What happened to customer service? I loved shoping at Nordstrom for shoes for years because they could stretch a shoe or offer a different width, add a insert... they were experts in helping a shoe fit to your foot. not anymore. Why not make the store like Nordstrom Rack where you just put the boxes out there and let people try them on if you are not going to offer customer service anymore. We had to wait for a different size in 2 different shoes. The suit shopping already took over 2 hours and we needed to be somewhere else so we gave up on shoes. The quality of the suit was good, but I think we could have gotten similar quality for a lower price. Nordstrom use to be known for classy clothes with good quality and amazing customer service. The Anniversary Sale was an amazing way for families to save money on top quality, fashionable clothes. Unfortunately a new generation of shoppers will never get to experience this.

The suit is fine, no surprises there, but that’s not why I chose Nordstrom. They have a reputation for good service and my experience is no exception. I was going to be in town for a couple days and needed a new suit. I called in advance and spoke to Christine in Men’s wear. I gave her some basic measurements, told her my arriving flight info and she took it from there. She said she’d have a fitting room set aside and some options to try. On my arrival day to Houston I got a text from Christine asking about my flight and how traffic was. She noted she had everything set up for when I arrive. True to her word a fitting room was set with a few suit options. I tried the first one on and it fit beautifully, aside from me being too short and needing a slight alteration. The alteration was done same day, earlier than expected I might add. In total I spent 5 minutes on the phone and maybe 15 minutes in the actual store. I have a suit that fits and looks good but more important I an experience that will influence where I buy my suits in the future… with service like this why would I go anywhere else?!
