Birthstone Stacking Ring

I purchased this ring about a year ago when this style was first released. I originally wanted the pearl combination, but found that due to the roundness of the pearl, it looked unbalanced next to the topaz. So, I decided to go with the opal combination instead as I planned on wearing this as a fashion piece rather than birthstone jewelry. As many other reviewers mentioned, the shape of the setting means it could potentially snag on clothing. I haven't had this issue, but I do avoid wearing it around sweaters or anything delicate. However, the one I received had a bit of a crooked setting. We ended up sending the ring back to Bony Levy to correct the issue, and I haven't had any problems since. Due to the very simple construction of the band being just a plain round loop, I agree that this doesn't look very expensive, and doesn't make a great standalone piece. I also dislike that the clear stone chosen was white topaz, because when worn next to my diamonds, it looks extremely yellow. This is the main reason I don't wear this ring as often as I had hoped, and the reason I didn't pick up the matching necklace. I wish Bony Levy had chosen a different stone to pair with the birthstone that is colorless and has better sparkle, like a white sapphire. I wear mine as a layering piece so I don't mind that it is on the small side, and I think the price on sale is a great find. Please note that Bony Levy colored gems are heat-treated (per my discussion with a sales rep at the Trunk Show), so the gems will be quite vibrant and bright. Overall, it's a nice piece but not my favorite BL gemstone ring in my collection.
