Works for my gray hair
I have noticed my hair is turning brassy when I stopped using this brand of shampoo and tried a different brand.
I have been using this shampoo for a long time, for about 5 years and I love what it does for my salt and pepper hair.
Have to switch back to this shampoo again! I wash my hair everyday and this shampoo works for me, my hair is manageable, easy to comb and I do not even use hair conditioner. Occasionally, I use amla oil or castor oil to treat my hair and my hair is thick and strong. I love my salt and pepper hair and I have not gone to have it colored. Tried to, before my son's wedding and before my daughter's wedding, but I changed my mind. I will have it natural.

too drying
I previously used the Aveda Blue Malva Conditioner and was very happy with it. The shampoo dried my hair out and didn't have any effect on the color.

Contains ammonia
The shampoo lathers well, the smell is ok, but the product contains ammonia. It seems self-defeating to add ammonia to a product intended for chemically treated hair - it destroys color. I wouldn't recommend this product.

Love this Shampoo
I'm 57 years old and I am not coloring my hair. I'm starting to acquire a light salt and pepper look. This shampoo makes my silver (not gray) hair look like beautiful highlights throughout. When I'm admiring my hair I think about the vast amounts of money I used to spend on getting highlight foils to my hair .... now I have natural ones. This 32 oz. bottle lasts forever. I think I've been using this same bottle for about 5 months and just purchased my 2nd bottle. My hair is fine and it gives it beautiful body and shine. Plus, I don't have to fight any of the winter static. I also use the Blue Malva Conditioner a 2 to 3 times a week.

Great shampoo for blond dye
I started using this shampoo when my hair colorist recommended it for my blond dyed hair. I love it - it balances the color and helps combat brassy tones. I highly recommend it to any blond.

Works great but smells, um, not great
I love Aveda products, so this summer when my dirty blonde hair got that brassy sun-kissed tint, I turned to Aveda for the perfect toner. This product works wonderfully, returned the life to my color, and left my hair soft to boot (in conjunction with the Blue Malva Conditioner). The only thing is that this doesn't smell fresh and natural like other Aveda products. It has a sort of cheap cotton candy-ish scent. Luckily the smell doesn't linger after hair dries, but I was hoping for some of the luxurious scents that Aveda has in some of it's other products. I'd still recommend it, because I got the results I was hoping for, color-wise.

Blue Malva Shampoo
I have tried several "blue" shampoos for my silver hair. All made my scalp break out. One brand even said to use gloves....That's a sign of toxic stuff. Blue Malva has not caused a reaction and it leaves my hair shiny silver. I love the earthy smell. I wish I had gotten the pump. Aveda should include the pump for the price of the shampoo.
I hope I can grow my new silver hair out long without having a yellow/green cast.
