Packable Hooded Walker Coat

Before purchasing, I read two very different accounts: 1) runs small but is flattering; 2) bulky and unflattering. Well, I’m going with 2. It’s gorgeous (love the opal grey, just what I was looking for) and very warm. And it looks great on the model. But it’s VERY unflattering—makes me look like a loaf of bread (and I don’t mean a baguette). I love Bernardos. Because they tend to run a bit small, I generally order size large. (For reference: I’m 5’8”, about 140 lbs, 36DD, long waisted.) This one seems too large, but I’m afraid a medium might be too small. I can’t really tell, because the fit is so weird—high waisted (like empire waist?) and very puffy—poufs out from the waist rather stiffly like an overstuffed skirt. So, sadly, I’ll probably return it.

Loved the looks of this coat in Berry. I am from the south and need something super warm when I am visiting my grandkids up north. I was very warm the minute I put this coat on--unlike some others I own. I found the fit to be on the small size. For reference, I am 5'6, 150 pounds, 36D and ordered the medium. The coat was snug in my middle (where it is cinched) and in the chest area. I will try a large. Also, while this says it is packable, trying to get the coat into the accompanying bag was like trying to get into control garments that are 2 sizes too small. I would have to buy a different "stuff sack" if I were to use this as a packable coat.
