What it does: Smudging is an ancient spiritual cleansing technique that calls upon the spirits of sacred plants to drive away negative energy and restore a renewed sense of wellness and balance. Smudging is not only for spaces, it's also for clearing your body, mind and spirit of any negativity, stagnation or energetic disturbances within or surrounding you. Palo Santo is traditionally used for relieving common colds, flu symptoms, stress, asthma, headaches, anxiety, depression, inflammation and emotional pain and more.

How to use:

- White Sage: Light the end of the sage bundle with a match. Blow it out quickly if it catches on fire. The tips should smolder slowly, releasing thick smoke. Direct the smoke around your body and space with one hand while holding the bundle in the other. Allow the incense to linger on the areas of your body or surroundings you'd like to focus on. Allow the ash to collect in a ceramic bowl or shell. The resulting smoke smudges needs about an hour to cleanse the air in the room and the properties in the smoke to kill most of the existing bacteria in the air. Burning sage is safe for both kids and pets.

- Palo Santo: Use a candle, match or lighter to ignite. Hold at a 45-degree angle, pointing the tip down toward the flame. Allow it to burn for about 30 seconds to one minute, then blow it out. Move about your workspace, home, car, bathroom or anywhere you would like to clear the energy. When finished, place the stick in a fireproof bowl of metal, glass or clay. The glow will end on its own unless you blow on the embers which will keep the smoke going.
