Redway Waterproof Jacket

Bought this coat for a trip to Dublin in February, and I'm really glad I did. It's warm but not so warm that you can't wear a sweater underneath it. It's also pretty cute if you're into Cotswolds lifestyle cosplay. Probably going to have to buy a stone cottage in the countryside now and wear this coat when I walk up the lane to the pub.

I generally love Barbour coats but this one was a tremendous disappointment. The coat is depicted in photos as having lovely tarnished brass/gold colored buttons and hardware. Very classy and looks terrific with the olive green. When the coat arrived, I was shocked to discover the coat has tacky, bright silver buttons. They cheapen the look and make this look like a fake Barbour. Definitely not the quality I would expect on a $500 coat. Not sure if this is an old photo, a counterfeit item, or why this discrepancy occurred, but the ugly shiny silver buttons were unacceptable to me, and the coat is being returned.

Such a gorgeous raincoat. It’s very light weight and feels like it would be completely waterproof. The hood is the only part lined in tartan, which is too bad. Would be cute if it was totally lined in the Barbour tartan. However it’s less flashy and more useful this way. Has a good zipper and gold buttons. At first I thought the buttons might be too flashy as they’re on the large pockets too, but they weren’t the first thing I noticed when on. I love how there’s big pockets and a roomy hood, the sleeves can be tightened with snaps and the waist has an interior elastic to create shape. However the jacket is simply massive. I am a size 2US/ 6UK in the Beadnell and thought maybe I could get away with a US6 with this and have sweaters underneath. But it fits more like a men’s small to me. I look like a kid playing dress up. I would probably need to size down in this for a good fit.
