Marlene Tartan Plaid Wool Blend Peacoat

This is a really lovely coat, except for two things. First, it runs VERY large. I'm usually a size 12-14, but ordered a 14US in the thought that it would give me just enough room to wear a sweater underneath. Well, I probably could have fit 5 sweaters underneath. I definitely could have sized down at least one size, or even two. But, second, the other problem is there are no buttons that allow you to close the lapels on really cold winter days. I'm sure it looks better with the lapels open, but I was hoping for a little more practicality. I had the same exact problem with another wool Barbour coat, so this may be something they do across the board. Oh well. I'm returning both Barbours, and keeping a Ted Baker instead.

I was hesitant to order this coat although I loved the look. I own a quilted and waxed Barbour coats. As they are for cooler weather, I had to buy a 14 US so that I could put a sweater underneath especially for the fall. As the 14 was not available I took a chance on the 12. Fits perfectly! I could even put a turtleneck under it or a sweater. Quality is amazing. I am so pleased. I took off one star because at $384 it is a great reduction but for a "dress winter only" coat it is still a little bit pricey. But just like my jackets I plan to have it forever.
