Beadnell Water Resistant Waxed Cotton Jacket

I bought the 2020 version of this excellent waxed jacket when I lived in Seattle. I also got the optional hood, which helped in that climate. Then the pandemic hit, I moved to a much drier climate, and hung the coat in my closet. Last year I was organizing the closet and discovered that because of the warmth of the room, the paint on the closet wall, where the sleeve was resting against it, is all now discolored from wax melting off the sleeve and onto the paint! There is a big sleeve-shaped blotch on the wall of my closet. Then I did something dumb to get it away from the paint. I boxed it up with other clothes that didn't fit me, but were too good to get rid of. And...yes...because of the warmth of the closet, now all those other clothes have wax on them. They are all now unusable because the wax won't launder out (I tried). The Barbour coat is probably still viable, but because it rarely rains in Virginia, there's no need to bother testing it. It's now in a box all by itself, waiting until it's needed, or until I discover a worthy recipient in a rainy climate. So: it was a great jacket when I needed it - overkill for anywhere but the PNW, maybe - but be careful where you store it because the wax certainly will soften and spread to anything it's touching. Also note that when I got it, I was a size 10, and got the size 12, and it was great. Now I'm too big to wear a size 12, which is another reason it took me so long to discover the melting situation.
