What it is: A floral eau de parfum that focuses on beauty and fantasy, and is perfumer Ben Gorham's love letter to Africa's influence on Paris in the late '20s.

Fragrance story: With this scent, Ben Gorham wanted to sum up and celebrate the reach and influence of Africa through time, particularly the way its myriad of cultures have shaped dance, art and music. A mix of Parisian avantgardism and African culture shaped a unique and vibrant expression. The intense life and excess euphoria is illustrated by the fragrance's neroli, African marigold and Moroccan cedarwood.

Show stopper

I love every every everything about this perfume. It’s light and fresh but a show stopper. Could be worn every day or special occasions. I purchased the Byredo sample set first and couldn’t get over this scent! Definitely top 5 favorite perfumes without a doubt!

Did not smell anything like the original scent

Byredo Bal D’Afrique is my signature scent for years. It was the first time I have purchased a Byredo scent at Nordstrom and it didn’t smell anything like the original perfume. The packaging was different and the perfume smelled like pure alcohol. I returned it immediately.

heaven in a bottle

Extremely Long wearing! I can smell it in my hair, on my body and clothes the next day! Because of the price point, opted in purchasing first the roll on oil, which is great for on the go, but not to be put on clothes etc. Ended up LOVING so much so that I have the hair mist and 1.7 as well! I purchased the lotion and body wash for myself but ended up giving as a LUX gift for my bf! I use the perfume spray almost daily (2-3 sprays) and it has lasted me a yr! The perfect non-perfumey scent! I have yet to meet anyone who does not love it!

Thought long & hard

Thought long & hard before purchasing this expensive fragrance after testing a sample. Purchased fragrance & body cream. Such a great fragrance. Longevity not great which was disappointing. That’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars. At this price point it should have greater longevity. But a wonderful scent.

A Great Intro to Byredo

My first Byredo purchase, and I'm glad I started with Bal D'Afrique! The muskiness and florals blend perfectly, making this one truly unisex. I've since added to my collection so I don't wear it much daily, but it will always hold a special place as my first Byredo fragrance!
