Love! Have Repurchased!!
I can't live without this brush and this is the third time I've purchased it since 2002 or so. I've purchased for my best friend (thick and curly hair) and it's her favorite brush too. It doesn't pull your hair out and gets through all the layers of your hair. I have fine brunette hair and I've used on my blonde daughter as well since she was little and she has a very sensitive scalp. Others have mentioned a missing bristle... I found this on Aveda's website. "The paddle brush is designed with one bristle missing in the bottom, middle half of the brush. This hole is to provide ventilation and to aid in drainage after the brush has been washed. Additionally it helps to prevent any bacterial growth that could occur with pooling water on the inside of the brush."

Quality has changed
The quality used to be good on these brushes. I just decided to replace mine I had for about 4 years, and they definitely changed this brush. It’s like brushing your hair with toothpicks now! Seriously hurts and it’s ripping my hair out, too!

Not What it Used to Be
I loved this brush for years, and had a bunch of them. When the last one disappeared, and my local Aveda store closed, I found it online at Nordstrom (for a great price). Turns out the quality has decreased markedly. The handle/paddle is thinner and less substantial, and the bristles thinner and sharper. I liked the old weight and texture. Very disappointing.

Nice feel - plastic handle?
Feels good, smoothes my hair well, and seems to be nice quality, but I'm not sure why they went through the trouble of making the handle look wooden if they were going to make it out of plastic.

Not as good as they say...
After reading mostly good reviews on this brush I purchased it because I was looking for a good brush to untangle my very fine hair. The only thing good I can say is that the brush looks nice. As far as untangling my hair, it actually created more tangles than the $7 hairbrush from a drugstore. Wish it worked as well as they say it should!

25 Years And Going Strong
This brush is truly made to last. Pictured is the first I ever received - a seemingly random secret Santa gift from my aunt when I was 12. I use this brush daily, on both wet and dry hair. It feels amazing on my scalp and gets through tangles with ease. It’s the hardest working tool in my house! I actually purchased a second identical brush when I was in college after my roommate (and best friend) kept stealing mine to blow out her hair with. Now the “back up” brush lives in my car.
If you’re hesitating, don’t. This is the best $30 you may ever spend. It will certainly last the longest.
