What it is: A deep yet gentle formula that cleanses and purifies the scalp to help instantly balance sebum levels.

What it does: Plant-derived cleansing agents from babassu help gently cleanse and purify the scalp, while wintergreen derived from salicylic acid exfoliates, removing pollution to create a clean scalp foundation for beautiful hair. It also features an exclusive blend of ingredients that help balance, protect and preserve the scalp's natural barrier, including seaweed extract to help control and balance sebum levels on the scalp, lactobacillus patented ferment to help preserve the scalp's natural protective barrier and tamanu oil, a known antioxidant that helps protects the scalp from aggressors like pollution and other free radicals. Your scalp is left invigorated and refreshed, and lightly scented with notes of grapefruit, neroli, cypress and other pure flower and plant essences.

How to use: Apply to a wet or dry scalp and massage in. Rinse. Follow with shampoo. Use it every time you shampoo. An alternative usage is to only rinse once. Apply to wet or dry scalp and massage in, then follow with shampoo and rinse.

I'm a believer
I've only used twice, but so far I like this. The smell isn't the best but i really feel this in combination with the rosemary mint shampoo is really soothing my dry scalp and truly purifying my hair. It feels very clean and soothing and the tip makes it very easy to apply down at scalp level.

Waste of money
I've used this a few times now and I don't understand what's the point. I was hoping it would take care of my dandruff and sooth my scalp while cleansing it well. It doesn't do a single thing. In fact, I think my scalp is worse. I don't want to throw it away because it pretty much cost 40 bucks after tax. But I won't use it again.

Excellent product for clearing build up on scalp
I was having issues with bad flaky itchy scalps. My hair also seemed dry and lifeless. I applied this liberally to my scalp, sort of rubbing it in. The tip makes it squirt in evenly in strips, then rub it in to cover all of scalp, even non problem areas. Leave on for at least three minutes, rinse thoroughly, shampoo, condition. I use color conserve shampoo and invati conditioner. My hair feels soft and bouncy, keeps its color, and no itch or flakes.

works!
I’ve used Aveda products for years. Was really happy to find this new product. It worked immediately, I got relief after the first shampoo. I didn’t have flakes per se but my scalp would be incessantly itchy even with clean hair. Worth the money. It solves the problem without stripping my color treated hair.

I finally found a product that works well with my flaky scalp. Pramasana is easy to apply before shampooing my hair and relieves me of my itchy scalp due to build-up of other products and the dry, winter weather. No snow flakes from my head anymore. Highly recommended!

Aveda Pramasana: Gentle Gel
Easy to apply, good ingredients, smells nice, leaves scalp feeling clean and fresh. But I didn’t see any real difference or results that I dont get from a gentle shampoo that I massage to activate. I like the teal bottle pointy spout for getting to the scalp.
