Comforting Tea Bags

This Aveda tea is fabulous. I am not a tea drinker. Nor do I like anything I drink to be unsweetened. I also do not like the taste of fennel, or any type of licorice. But when I recently walked into a store that was handing out free samples of this tea, my polite-meter kicked in and I took a sip. Aveda Comforting Tea is to die for. It is thick and satisfying. It is not sweet upon the first sip, but after you swallow your mouth is filled with a subtle minty taste. It's just enough. The combination of the basil and the fennel with the peppermint is just perfect. I would recommend this tea to anyone! That being said, it is pricey. So I hide my box and use it when I need a bit of comfort! My mother knows this and when she was visiting this weekend, I snuck her some. She was especially delighted, as she loves it and she knows I don't like to share it!! Highly recommend!!

As a longtime devoted customer, I am disheartened by Aveda's global consumer care department's response to my report about an active ingredient in this product. Licorice contains glycyrrhizic acid, which has been shown, in multiple studies, to correlate with high blood pressure. Over the past few years, as I consumed increasing amounts of this tasty tea, my BP recently rose to a number that my NP found alarming. Upon researching my otherwise healthy diet, I identified the link and immediately stopped consuming this tea. I placed several calls to Aveda to share my concerns--and was disconnected each time. Nowhere on this site do I see a warning about glycyrrhizic acid. I hope that others will not struggle with HBP, as I now have. Fortunately, I have hope that my condition will resolve.
