Details & care
This skateboard deck triptych features a reproduction of Dollar Sign (1981), inspired by Andy Warhol’s widely known love of money. The artist came from a poor family in industrial Pittsburgh. In the early 1960s, Warhol depicted one-dollar bills in his artwork and in 1981 he returned to the theme of money with a series of drawings and paintings using the dollar-sign motif as the main focus of the artwork. "I like money on the wall. Say you were going to buy a…painting. I think you should take that money, tie it up and hang it on the wall," commented Warhol. "Then when someone visited you, the first thing they would see is the money on the wall." This skateboard triptych is produced by The Skateroom, a platform for promoting, selling and producing art on skateboards that supports youth-empowering organizations.
