Higgins Mill Plain Toe Boot (Men)

One of the things that I love about Allen Edmonds is that it holds pride and tradition. Made in the USA, right here at home. I own another pair of Allen Edmonds in chukka's, but I absolutely love the Higgins Hill boots. The chukka's weren't made with the Danite-all weather sole, but in about a few years I can get them recrafted with Danite soles. The black on these boots are amazing. I was looking for that in-between style of modern to classic and these don't disappoint. Be sure to order half size down from your normal size. I am 8.5D and the 8D's fit just right. Another great classic piece to add to my collection!

Great quality leather, very good construction and basically all you could want in a high quality, no frills boot that works as a work boot or casual boot. You are not going to win any style points with this boot as it has a truly generic (but high quality) look . Had the toe been slightly slimmer or more tapered it could have been a more stylish boot but I understand that was not the goal for this boot. One could add a bit of style/spice by getting different colored laces (the ones that come with the boot are very bland). Overall, a very comfortable boot with good support and high quality materials. Great boot for adventures but you'll need a different one for a night out. Another way to describe this boot is if you want the functionality of the Alden Indy boot but don't want to pay an extra couple hundred dollars for the recognizability of the Indy boot, then go for this one.

so since I didn't want to pay a zillion dollars for Alden Indy boots, I saw these and fell in love!! Just like most AE's, you'll want to do a 1/2 size smaller than a normal fitting tennis shoe. So I wear a 9 in Nike/NewBalance and buy 8.5s for any AE shoe and they fit great. That being said, there's no extra room for a slip in orthotic insert if thats what you're hoping. I typically can get away with doing that in a 9 tennis shoe. Don't order a 1/2 size up to do that with these shoes because the length is already generous at a 1/2 size smaller. You'll love these...they look and feel amazing!!

First of all I would like to thank Skyler from Nordstrom Keystone IN he help me get the best product. The first boots that was sent to me had a loose welt and had to be replaced and the second pair was also suffering the same issue but the third pair as they say third times the charm came perfect with little to no diffects. The boots is really good quality you can tell from the lining and the leather used on the boots. The leather insole with cork foot bed is really comfortable. There is also no break in time needed since the leather upper is so smooth and soft. The cons that I find is that quality control is a hit and miss. Like I explained earlier I had to return and exchange multiple pairs before I was satisfied. There are welt issue on the boots where the stichs are loose, grooves on the surface of the leather maybe due to when the shoes is being constructed. But after all the exchange you will find a good pair that you will love.

I purchased the Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill in brown. I ended up exchanging the first pair for another of the same set. The first pair had a different outsole color (dark brown rather than the orange color in the photo) than the photo on the Nordstrom or Allen Edmonds website suggested, and I thought that perhaps I had been sent the wrong pair by mistake. Furthermore, the the leather and the stitching on one of the shoes left more to be desired, particularly from Allen Edmonds and at this price point. The 2nd pair I received was the same color as the first so perhaps it's the photo on the webpage that is incorrect. The shoes were very comfortable and required no break in, but I again noticed that the stitching of the boots was a little sloppy in places. Certainly not what I expected from AE. In terms of sizing, I would say that the shoe is true to size. I typically wear a 9E in the 5 last and had read that the Higgins Mill came from a slightly wider and shorter last. Went with a 9.5D and it fit perfectly.
