Allax Double Medium Dog Travel Crate

This crate is cool cool cool. I totally love it. It's solid and silent while driving(no rattling!) and was pretty easy to put together all. by myself. I assembled in my car so I didn't have to lift it. It's also incredibly stylish. Everyone I show it to is wowed by how cool it looks. With my new Thule roof rack and the crate my car is like a mobile Thule showroom lol. Safety wise it has some exceptional features. My favorites are the full length escape hatch in the back of the crate and the locking doors. The doors are quite close. Tons of air flow. It's pretty perfect.For real. I do a lot of long trips and camp and backpack with my dogs and have had a lot of crates. Hands down this is the best crate I have ever used for my dogs. For camping trips with one dog I can remove the center divider and Gove my dog more space or use the unused side to store camping gear. I also got the tailgate/bumper protector, gear bags that attach to the crate and the leash hooks. I wish I had bought the Thule crate mats as well because I want to continue the minimalist style theme of all black and silver. I have a border collie and a working bearded collie. They both fit really nicely in this crate size.

While the crate is beautiful, I am a bit disappointed in the quality of it. The bottom pan arrived scratched and the plastic parts used for handle can easily be chewed up. And sadly Thule does not offer individual replacement parts. It does fit perfectly in the back of a Chevy Equinox (2016 model) and my two dogs have room in it. It’s a bit snug but better than being too big. I don’t know if I would recommend this crate for a friend. Right now I am just sad that my puppy already chewed up the door handle on a 10 minute car ride (he is used to traveling in crates)

Fits perfectly in the back of my subaru outback wilderness, with the seats up. I have a 60lb and 40lb Australian Shepherd. The divider in the middle can be slid over to give the bigger dog more room. They have just enough space to lay down and but be snug enough for safety. The crate overall is very appealing, well made, sturdy and the doors open and close smoothly. I haven't noticed any road noise. It can be easily picked up and placed in the back of the vehicle by two people. It gives me an overall ease of mind to know that I have my dogs traveling safely with me.

I recently purchased this kennel. I do like the kennel a lot. It fits perfectly in my 2025 Chevy Equinox. The only thing I did not like is that the kennel came damaged with a lot of scratches and the connection points for the bars to sit on the kennel were bent. It made assembling the kennel a little more difficult. I wish there was a way to be discounted as it was not my fault it was damaged.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I set up my Thule Allax Double crate system in my Ford Bronco about a month ago, after trying every other crate/brand on the market. I travel (overlanding, road tripping, and off-roading) with my Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherd pretty frequently (8 weeks on the road each summer, plus a week or so on the road every month), and no crate system compares to the Thule. Every detail was considered- from the super sturdy yet lightweight doors, the ventilation throughout the entire crate, the extension option for additional crate length (or a shorter crate system for smaller cargo areas), to the best-in-class safety/crash testing. I am seriously so impressed by this crate. Before Thule came out with this product, there was one major brand dominating the vehicle crate market, and they were so popular because of how lightweight and compact they were, making them an easy choice for most vehicles. The Allax, though, is a better shape and fit for the cargo area of a vehicle, and feels so much more robust without compromising on internal crate space for your dog/s. 100/10- for sure the best vehicle crate on the market.
