Dupioni Trumpet Gown

I bought this dress and was slightly skeptical about sizing because most people said to size up but I bought my true size and it fit like a glove. If you are the type who is busty with a hour glass figure this is the perfect dress for you. It fits nicely in the bodice and hugs the hips but not to the point where you are unable to move. The fabric is nice quality but it does not stretch very much, so make sure to look at the size measurements. I am also 5ft 4in so this dress was slightly too long when I wore heels, so I ended up getting it hemmed. Other than that I love this dress, it is a classic gown that can be worn to many different events.

I have been eyeing all Alfred Sung dresses on Nordstrom for months now - I could not be happier with my purchase after I let it get down to the wire. My brother's fiance wanted all of the bridesmaids to pick our own dresses somewhere on the blush-champagne colored spectrum. The color is so beautiful, especially in this fabric. This gem is so classy and elegant, I am so glad I landed on this one and it was available in my size - definitely a quality dress at a reasonable price (I wanted to stay under $300 and closer to $200-250). Fit and Size: I am 5'5" and weigh 125 lbs; my bust measures 32", waist 25.5" and hips 36". I got a size 4 (I'm usually a 2-4) and have to get it tailored, which I always expect to do (it's a miracle if I don't have to!). The fit is perfect in all of the right places as it is pictured here - I just need to get it taken in the chest and a tiny bit in the backside. Since I have broader shoulders, I am picky about how things fit on my arms/chest area - this is extremely flattering. I consider myself slender but I have an athletic build - it tastefully shows off my curves and backside. I found looking at both the dress' reviews on Nordstrom and the size guide on Alfred Sung's website to be helpful in validating what size to get. Can't wait to wear this dress - highly recommend it and Alfred Sung.

This is a beautiful dress, love the bow in back detail and fabric is very nice. But being petite (5'2") by the time it was shortened I would have lost the whole trumpet effect, so it was returned.

So, This dress is stunning! I bought this to wear standing up to a formal wedding. However, I would recommend going up a size (or 2). The Fabric had zero give and its quite form fitting around the hips and butt. I'm a curvy girl and I have some pretty big boobs- so going up a size and altering it a little was perfect for me. Normally I'm a true 12 in almost everything. But I went for the 16 (it gave me a little more length than the 14) and Had it altered. LOVE this dress.

Ok, so I wanted to love this dress so much. It's beautiful. The material is gorgeous, the cut is great, but the sizing? Everyone said it ran small, so I ordered two sizes up; two! I thought I could always have it taken in. It was still too small. It was tight in the hips and huge in the top. I'm a 36DD and it was huge in the top. Because of the silk fabric, the dress can't be let out, so I had to return it. I was sad to return it, but there was just no way to make this dress work.

5'3, 150 pounds, smaller up top, narrow hips, bigger in legs/butt Ordered this dress in black, in a size 6 at first and it was way too tight. Ordered a 10 and way too big, an 8 would have fit better probably but still would have needed alterations, which at nordstrom is not free with purchase which for some reason I thought it was . I waited over an hour for alterations at an appointment so I wouldn't recommend going to the store, and they added up to about $100. SO I returned the dress because I didn't want to end up paying $350 for a dress I wasn't too happy with. It's a classic shape and ordered for a black tie wedding, but the fit wasn't too flattering. The neck was a little too high and the top a little basketball jersery shaped. I have a small waist but the dress doesn't flatter it, and it either gaps or clings in the wrong places. I loved the back and the bow is a great detail but the material and fit kind of makes the shape not as flattering as hoped. This is a dress I liked the idea of more than the actual fit, probably would fit better on someone tall and lean!
