Cowl Neck Beaded Waist Evening Gown

I bought this dress for my son's upcoming fall wedding. I never buy anything online without trying on but I thought I would take a chance. I am so pleased with this dress and it is a perfect size 8 fit and length. I am wearing 2 1/2 inch block heels and am 5' 5" tall. It is a very flattering, comfortable fit, and I am thrilled that it is padded so that I will not have to wear a bra. As you can see from my picture the color is a very dark Navy Blue. I look forward to wearing it for the wedding!

I am 60 years old, about 5'5" tall, and weigh about 170. I have a pear shape and most of the time I can wear size 12 pants and a medium shirt. I have a black tie event that I am attending in June and needed something to wear. I have a size 12 dress that I am wearing for the cocktail party the night before that just fits. I wasn't sure how this would fit so I ordered a 10 in the royal blue and the 12 in the eggplant, mainly because those were the colors available in those sizes. When they came I was really hoping at least the royal blue one would fit because I really thought I would love that blue. As it turns out the eggplant one in 10 fit! Even though I was able to slip it on without unzipping it, it fits snuggly on the bodice and drapes so nicely on the shoulders. The 12 fit about the same in the bodice but the shoulders were too big and would have had to be altered. The hem just barely touches the floor and I am ok with that length so I am not going to have to have it altered at all. The material is really luxurious and the color is really beautiful. It's not really as dark as an eggplant- It's more of a deep plum color. The eggplant actually looked better than the blue- I was surprised at that. I was a little worried about the slit but it is just about 2-3 inches above the knee and that doesn't bother me at all. It fits well and I am incredibly happy with this purchase. I just hope I have something else in the future I can wear it to.

LOVED this dress! It was very forgiving. The gathers at the waist covered up for not having a skinny waist and the embellishment catches your eye. The sleeves fall perfectly to cover enough of your arms that might not be perfectly toned. You can let the top fall around your shoulders instead of sitting on top like the picture. It has a slit that goes pretty high but it's an A-Line so it's not very noticeable. It hangs really pretty and the fabric is nice and heavy and you can move really well in it. Let me do say, however, that the color (eggplant) in the picture really looks burgundy and it is NOT - it is literally a dark purple hue and that didn't work for me. I was heartbroken to return it due to the color - I wish it came in black and I did write Alex Evenings to let them know we all need it in black :)

Everything about this dress was perfect, especially the lovely cap sleeves and the cowl neck. My only problem was that the neckline is lower than the photos would suggest, and even if tailored, seemed too low for this mother of the bride-aged lady. I am 5'4 and 130 pounds. The size 10 was a perfect fit in all other respects.

I loved my Mother of the Groom dress! I ordered in the eggplant, size 14. It fit like a glove - no alterations needed. I did wear it slightly more off the shoulder than shown. The none wrinkling material was amazing and I could dance and move in it well.

I returned this but it was so pretty. I returned only because I found another dress I liked better. This was second place. It was very beautiful and I really have nothing negative to say. It fit well and was true to size.
