Alex Evening A-Line Gown & Lace Jacket

I was so pleased to find a dress for my son's June wedding that was both flattering and affordable. The high quality of Alex Evening's brand assured me that I wasn't ordering junk. Nordstrom's shipping policy allowed me to try on two sizes in my own home and send back the one that did not fit. Very convenient! This policy alone makes me a FOREVER Nordstrom shopper!

I received the dress together with two other choices. I did not even take it out of the bag because the dress looked cheap. The top is made of some sort of lace with sequins scatttered about. The picture makes the lace look of a much better quality than the real thing. Maybe it was compared to the other two, but its look was definitely not up to what I was expecting.

I ordered this dress for my Mother to consider for her grandson's wedding. She loved the shimmering fabric in a pastel color usually harder to find, orchid (lilac), which is light and happy looking in this gown. She did not want a dark color or the beige/gold/taupe neutrals of most of the formal dresses we saw elsewhere. As an older person in her 80s, she wanted something elegant but easy to put on and wear comfortably throughout the big day. This design fit the bill. She plans on wearing the jacket all day, but if she decides to remove it, the straps on the bodice are wide and won't tug or pull. She feels sufficiently covered up and dressed up at once. The fit is a bit roomy. Some women might want to have a tighter fit around the bodice. This dress is very flattering on a person with a pleasantly plump figure. The feel and look of the fabric is good quality, and doesn't reveal lingerie lines or crease easily.

This dress is exactly what I was looking for. It's very pretty with a simple elegance for my sons upcoming wedding! I'm never disappointed with any purchase from Nordstrom and this was just another successful purchase!

This dress is true to size. It was a little snug on the bust. If you are large on top this may be an issue.
