Gorgeous dress for MOB or MOG
I wore this dress for my son's December wedding...it was stunning with just enough sparkle but not too much (I was worried about that). I ordered the lead color and it was perfect to compliment my husband's black tux and the bridesmaids black gowns. I had a seamstress add a button to bustle the train. I bustled it before being introduced into the reception but I honestly think I could've gotten away with leaving it down. I loved it both ways. I wore a shimmery shawl when walking down the aisle and found a perfect pocketbook to go with the ensemble. Highly recommend this dress....it was so comfortable because of the slight stretchiness of the material and didn't want to take it off! Am thinking of shortening it to knee-length because I don't think I'll have another chance to wear it as a gown. Nordstrom's was very helpful with this purchase since I bought and returned a few colors before deciding. The reviews that I read on this dress before purchasing it were also extremely helpful which is why I included pictures...it's a big decision when it's your child's wedding if that's what you're purchasing it for.

Very poor sleeve design
This dress is beautiful and beautiful stretchy, EXCEPT that at the outside edge of the sleeve, it is faced with a completely non-stretch facing material. That is a stupid, stupid design and makes the dress extremely uncomfortable. Honestly, I didn't even get it all the way on. The sleeves are awful.

love this gown. . . so quietly elegant
I have to say, I was very nervous ordering this gown when the title of it has the words: (Regular & Petite) after it. . what did that mean ? I wondered. . I looked around when checking out the ordering and nowhere did I see the choice of Regular, or Petite. . so. . .I read all 85 reviews. . . and I have to say, that reading them actually gave me a very clear knowledge of what size I was to order. I ordered a size 6 ( I usually wear an 8). And when the dress arrived. . it fit like a glove !!! I am 51 years old, 5'9 ft tall, 137 lbs, and fairly fit. . I just have a flabby tummy from having 7 children,. . but that can be hidden with the right undergarments. . . I also was concerned that the train would be too long. . .it isn't. The weight of the fabric is not heavy with the sequins, but it is a good weight so that it isn't flimsy or thin. It is as absolutely gorgeous on, as it is in the picture with model . I ordered the Lead color. . and that is probably the only thing that wasn't clear in the picture. . the under "slip" is gray. The prominent color of the sequins that are attached to a delicate, lacy material, is bronze, but the fewer, larger "sequins/ discs" are silver. . it all gives the gown a very pretty shade. It is elegant and beautiful, and perfect for my need: Mother of the Groom. I am so happy with the gown !!! I ordered down a size like recommended. . .perfect !

Easy, No-Fuss Glamour!
This dress far exceeded my expectations! It is just beautiful on! Since I am fairly busty and at my age have a few more lumps and bumps than I would like, I thought it would be too form-fitting. Not at all. It has a very forgiving fit and drape and requires no special undergarments or bras. It doesn't show bulges or pantylines. I may wear a shaper just to make me feel a bit more trim, but it's definitely not a requirement. Love it...

Beautiful dress for any special occasion
I bought this dress to wear for my daughter’s October wedding. I tried on a few dresses at local bridal stores, but I was not impressed. The dresses in my price range didn’t fit right or weren’t the style I was looking for. Other dresses that looked like a style that might work for me were way over priced. I was looking for a dress that was appropriate for my role as mother-of-the-bride (MOB), was classy looking, but still had a little sexiness to it. When paying for a higher price for a dress, then I would hope it has the ability to accentuate my figure & not bring out any flaws. I decided try this dress due to the simple style & rave reviews. Most of the reviews were positive & came from all age ranges. I agree that the train is glamorous, but not practical & plan to have it removed.
I chose the charcoal color basically through method of elimination … The bride’s dress is more of a champagne color & has a taupe sash. I did not want to match the bride in any way; I feel it’s her day &, naturally, she should stand out. The blush color (I love that color, but too close to the bride so it was out) & the lead (brown) color was out (lead was too close to the taupe sash). The bridesmaids are wearing navy lace dresses so the navy color was out (again, love that color too). So that left me with the charcoal. I was hoping for more of a dark charcoal grey color, but the dress is pretty much black; it has a black under color with silver sequins on a sheer top layer. One reason I like the black color is because it should be easy enough to find a decent selection of black shoes to wear.
About the sizing … I’m 5’3” & weigh about 110# (bra size 32D). I wasn’t sure if I should order a 2 or 4. Nordstrom’s recommends ordering 1 size down because it runs large. I’m normally a size 2 in dresses, so I figured a 2 would fit. However, some reviewers were similar to my height & weight & indicated that a size 4 fit them. I ended up ordering both sizes 2 & 4. I first put on the size 2 & it fit like a glove, seriously, perfection (except for the length & I’ll have that adjusted when I find the right shoes). Then, just for fun, I thought I’d try on the 4 to see how it fit. Whaddya know, it fit good too. So, I had a dilemma on my hands. I debated about just keeping both until it was closer to the date, but I wanted to have one of the dresses off my credit card. I decided to keep the size 2 because it really does fit perfectly & even has a little extra room in the hip area (if I were to gain weight, that’s where it would go). Plus, now I have a motivation to maintain my current weight.
This dress is beautiful in person. It really is. I was afraid it would be too glitzy for the MOB role. However, the simplicity of the dress allows for more glitz. It’s form fitting without being tight, giving it a sexiness. The scooped back also adds to appeal, but it’s not a scoop that is too low that makes it inappropriate for MOB. As soon as I tried it on, it fit perfectly, hugging my curves & draping perfectly. It does what I hoped it would by accentuating my figure & hiding any flaws. That being said, after having 2 kids & being 47 years old, after a small meal or a few drinks, I look like I’m a few months pregnant & my stomach has a little pouch. I plan to wear a stomach cinched under it so I’m more comfortable on the big day & not worrying about my pouch sticking out.
After I put the dress on the first time, I fell in love with the look & fit. Still, I was worried about it being too glitzy so my mother-in-law came over to give me her approval. She said that since it’s a wedding & I’m the MOB, I needed to be dressy & it wasn’t too much. I also received bride approval. With all the sparkle & glitz, no necklace is necessary. I plan to find a pair of long earrings & maybe wear a few bracelets (silver with cubic zirconia’s).
I found a cute little velvet bolero jacket to wear to keep me warm when outdoors (I hope it’s not too cold on that day because the little jacket isn’t going to provide too much warmth).
This is one of those dresses that I think would look good on any figure. If you’re debating about getting it, Nordstrom’s has an excellent shipping & return policy, so I would highly recommend ordering & trying it on.

Complimented All Night
I wore this dress to my daughter's wedding this past weekend and got a TON of compliments. It was a nice fit, has enough give that sitting and moving are quite comfortable, and since it is double layered and the outer layer has weight to it, it doesn't bunch up or look bulgy. The weight of the outer sequined layer does cause the dress to get a bit longer as the night goes on. Mine was just to the floor when the day began, but by the end of the night I had over an inch dragging and I found myself stepping on it. I'm 5'5" and ordered the regular length which fit perfectly except it was a little long, so I went back and ordered the same size in petite, which was the perfect length, but the arm openings were too snug, so I ended up wearing the longer one. If you purchase this dress, I recommend having it altered to at least 1 inch off the floor. Or maybe better yet would be to allow it to hang for at least a week so that it will stretch, then have it altered. I didn't order early enough and didn't have time. The train is a beautiful touch and looked lovely when I walked down the aisle. I did throw on a hook and eye so that I could "bustle" the train for dancing purposes after the ceremony. That worked perfectly. I agree with another reviewer about color also. I was looking for a medium gray color and although the lead has a brownish look online, it was the perfect gray for my daughter's colors. The charcoal is basically black. Although it wasn't available when I placed my order, the silver looks like it would've been a lovely choice too.

Love It!
I received so many compliments on this gown. I absolutely love it. Unfortunately only the regular dresses were available - no petites. At only 5'1" it had to be altered significantly. Thankfully the Nordstroms alterations dept did a marvelous job keeping the elegant flow of the gown. As you can see I ordered the blush color - just perfect.
