My friend was shopping for a mother-of-the-bride dress and wanted something in black that was elegant, but not too formal, or your "typical" MOB dress. When I pulled this dress for her, she immediately said "no," but with some rather persistent coaxing and asking her to "indulge" me, she finally tried it on and instantly fell in love with it! My friend is 50 years old, barely over 5' and on the very curvaceous side, wears a size 16 and looked fabulous in this dress! She ended up having the shoulders taken up, but with those alterations, she was good to go. I was so impressed with how she looked in the dress that I asked to try it on. I'm 5'7, also wear a 16 and have an "apple" bodystyle. The dress looked great on me as well so I ended up ordering one too. The fabric is substantial but soft--probably too warm for the summer--and is forgiving where it needs to be. I'm so glad to finally find a dress appropriate for the middle-age demographic that is fashionable, with 3/4 length sleeves and a hint of sexiness...a very rare find!!!!!!!!!

Not right for a tall girl
I read all of the reviews and was confident that this was the right dress for me! However, I am 6'1" and this dress is definitely not cut for a tall girl! The cut of the arms was off so the dress pulled under the arms and the upper part of the bodice rode up, so it must not have been cut long enough for me. I really wated the dress to work :(. It would probably be cute on a not-so-hippy 5'7" girl...

Mother of the Bride
I love this dress! I am 66, and a little overweight. I wore the purple dress to my daughter's wedding 4 years ago. I loved the fit and finish so much that I bought a sapphire blue one for my son's wedding 9 months ago. Now another daughter is getting married, and I may try out the poppy color.
This is the most "forgiving" dress of chub around your arms or waist. It looks nice, and feels nice.
I will soon own all 4 colors in several different sizes.
Great price, too.It always seems to be on sale.
I highly recommend this for a mother of the bride dress that is nice looking, very flattering, inexpensive, and so comfortable.
I have size 8, 10, and 12, and they all run true to size. (Yes, I seem to keep going up a size.) They have a very nice length, that looks great in formal pictures. Amazing dress!

Classic and shapely
I can't believe no one has left a review on this papell style of dress. It gives you an instant hour glass figure while smoothing out the middle area. I needed something more elegant for the M.O.B. Dress, but this would make a fantastic wedding guest dress with a little jewelry bling.

Simple and Elegant
I really liked this dress. It's quite simple, confortable, can be used during the Fall and even winter with a good coat on the top and it's very elegant. The lenght of the dress, just below the knees makes it super chic. Will buy certainly more from this brand.

will ruin your pantyhose
This is a beautiful dress and I received many compliments but be warned that there is a rough taping inside the the hem that will ruin your pantyhose. The taping is on each side of the hem and kept scraping against my pantyhose and made a big hole in my hose right away. Otherwise the dress looks great on. I need to find a way to either cut out the rough taping without damaging the dress or cover it with something so it won't ruin another pair of hose. I read some older reviews and found that others had this problem too. I had to give it only 2 stars because this is a big flaw -- I was wearing expensive Spanx hose and had to throw them away.

I was nervous ordering from Nordstrom as I live in France (hence returning would be a nightmare + the fees for shipping, duty and taxes aren't cheap) and never tried this brand before, so I was worried about the size... I am size 10 and it fits perfectly. Everything about this dress is right - the length, sleeves lengh, the decollete - not too low, not too high... It's elegant, feminine, slimming, the fabric feels gorgeous, it's a bit stretchy and very comfortable, the colour is nice deep chocolate so no bad surprises here... Highly recommended!
