Non-linear fresh beauty. love it :)
Starts really aromatic with photorealistic lavender and germanium. Then in a hour dries down to office appropriate sandalwood with a hint of soft lavender. I think this is lovely for the category and I purchased this and Eau the Audacity, which couldn’t more different, because I love them for how they shine in their respective categories. Buy the sampler kit first for sure!!! Also, when I purchased from Penhaligons directly I got free shipping and a decant and other samples on promo. I got this one here however, because I had a gift card. Otherwise, sorry Nordstrom, but better to get the sampler here and maybe the full bottles direct for the free decant plus and promo they might be running that let’s you sample more. Plus that free decant lets you sample before you open in case you can’t buy the discovery kit and want to pay return shipping to Penhaligons. 100% recommend for lavender and sandalwood. Very long lasting but small scent cloud. Love.

I’m a big fan of Penhaligons and I’m currently obsessed with Balm of Calm. It lasts a long time and the projection isn’t overwhelming, but I get compliments when I wear it.

Good unisex scent
I purchased this perfume at Harrod's in London not long after it had come out, along with a bottle of Savoy Steam (also amazing). I don't know if I view this perfume as particularly calming, but that's because I am not a fan of lavender! It's actually good I didn't know lavender was a note in this when I purchased it (I was going off samples, not the bottle which clearly says "lavender".) I might have been biased against it if I'd known!
It's a nice scent for situations where you want to wear something, but you don't want your odor to scream PERFUME. It does have a bit of a hair salon/barbershop smell, but it isn't overpowering. Rather, I think after dry down it smells like you've had a good long shower and scrub and put on clean clothes. It does NOT smell like clean laundry - just a clean and pampered human.
I only gave it 4 stars because it's a little woodier than I would prefer. I like all the scents in this line except for Eau the Audacity which is (appropriately) too pungent for me.
I also like this scent on my husband. It is not overly sweet.
