Veronica Flex Harness Bootie (Women)

I’ve purchased a lot of Frye boots over the years, and this is the first time I’ve been disappointed in the quality of the leather. The stitching and lining and sole work are all top notch, but the leather on the black pair appears to be a thin layer of corrected leather with an added grain to it over a thicker base leather…not full grain leather, like their boots used to be. It’s a cheaper way of manufacturing an item and isn’t particularly durable. I can see the top glued-on layer wrinkling in areas (on one of the boots) fresh out of the box. So while these are goodyear-welted and resoleable, I don’t expect it would be worth it. I’ll be returning these.

I love Frye boots, but this one was a no-go. Two things: I can't get my foot in, with it unzipped. And I have a normal, not wide foot. The zipper goes down past the buckle strap. but that strap is keeping me from getting my heel to seat in the boot. I have other Fryes in this size and have had no issues. Also, the color or the Caramel is lighter than what is shown in the picture. It's more a light tan than that slightly darker rustic look. More yellowish rather than brown. The review wants to me to say whether it's true to width or not, but I can't honestly say since I can't get my foot in. Will be returning.

Unlike a few other reviews, I did not have any issues getting this boot on my foot, but I also unzipped and unsnapped it first. The reason I chose to return is because the leather was too orange for me (hoping it would be a bit deeper in hue) and I found the strap difficult to snap once the boot was on my foot.
