Overtimes Smooth Knee High Boot (Women)

Let me start by saying—I love these boots! The style is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. That said, when they first arrived, they were surprisingly loud. I honestly thought I might have to return them because of the strange plastic squeaking sound they made. Thankfully, I found an easy fix. I took a pair of knee-high black nylons and slipped one over each tongue of the boots (threading the aglet through the loops on the tongue as I laced them back up). Problem solved—no more squeak, just stylish, quiet, and comfortable steps. For fit, I have average-sized calves and was able to adjust the lacing for a perfect fit. The laces are long enough that you can loosen them if you have larger calves. Overall, I’d recommend these boots—especially if you find them on sale. I’m not sure I’d pay over $100 for squeaky boots that need a quick DIY tweak before wearing, but with the fix, they’re fantastic.

These are gorgeous, lightweight, true to size, and make your feet look small. But they are SO LOUD. So squeaky, like the sound of plastic wrap being scrunched into a ball. Both shoes do this and I realize it’s the material. Walking is crazy… you can hear me approach from down the hall. Have to return.

The other reviewer who said to add nylon stockings to the boot tongue was right! These boots are extremely squeaky and adding black sheer knee high stockings to the tongue and lacing them back up (I made some small cuts to the nylon so that I could lace through the two lace loops) fixed the loudness of these boots. They are a little tall for my small size (5 feet tall) and are rubbing against the back of my thighs when I sit/walk, but I'm hoping that as they break in the ankle area, they will fit better. You can adjust the width a bit with these longer laces to accommodate wider calves. I've been looking for lace up knee high boots for so long and lamenting the death of my old rocket dogs. I'm partially glad I bought these and made the adjustments I mentioned earlier. Hoping these last. Just seems like it's getting harder and harder to find good sturdy boots nowadays.
