I’ve been a Nordstrom customer since I was a little girl, shopping there with my mom for birthdays, milestones, and big life moments. I’ve always trusted this company to stand by the values of quality and care that set it apart. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has completely shattered that trust. I purchased the ZIGI Valezka Knee High Boots, and less than a month later they began to fall apart, with screws literally sticking out of the soles. When I contacted customer service, the agent was kind and offered a refund or replacement, which I appreciated. But here’s where things took a turn: I got engaged in these boots. They are now deeply sentimental to me, not just footwear but a piece of one of the happiest moments of my life. I reached out again, explaining that I didn’t want a replacement or a refund that required sending them back. I simply asked Nordstrom to make a one-time exception to let me keep the boots and still issue a refund, even a partial one, given the defect and emotional significance. Instead of any human response, I received a copied and pasted email. No greeting, no empathy, no acknowledgment of my story, just a robotic template reply. After decades of loyalty, it was disheartening to see how impersonal Nordstrom’s customer service has become. For a company that built its reputation on service and heart, this felt profoundly cold and transactional. These weren’t just boots, they were a part of one of the most special memories of my life, and Nordstrom couldn’t be bothered to care.
