White Algae Face Mask

The effects are immediate with the OSEA White Algae Mask! I put a thin layer on if I have been up working late...and the next morning my skin looks so refreshed. My skin feels physically smoother and looks healthy and plump. This mask might just be my favorite OSEA product yet. I have very sensitive skin and did notice a slight tingling, but no redness or irritation.

The mask smells and feels wonderful; however, after removing the product, my skin felt stripped of its moisture and I was left with dry scaly patches on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. It has been a couple weeks since I’ve used the mask, and my skin is just starting to recover. I do live in the foothills (higher altitudes) area of CO, so the climate is already dry, especially in the winter season, so maybe this product will work better for those in areas with higher humidity. I’m disappointed my skin reacted so nefarious to this mask.

I purchased a couple of Osea products and this is the only one my skin has an issue with - which is pretty darn good. I’m 23 and have very sensitive skin so when I put this puppy on it was no surprise that my skin started lightly tingling but then burning so I had to take it off immediately. Because I’m dumb enough to do it a couple of times - just for good measure and also I paid for it so my skin will suffer until that jar is empty - I definitely made sure it wasn’t just a once off stingy situation. It wasn’t, still hurts 😂 it smells good though and the texture is very smooth and for a second before the burniness kicks in she feels cooling and relaxing! Overall, love Osea - not this mask but the other products are darn tootin’ awesome.

This mask befuddles me. From the description, I was expecting something that felt special, indulgent… what you want for when you are finally taking the time for a little self-care at home. I have sat with this before writing a review and tried it every which way: wear overnight vs quick 10 minutes, thin layer vs thicker layer, on just washed skin vs washed skin followed by a swipe of toner; and it never works as a pleasant experience because a thin layer dries super quickly leaving a tight sensation and feels like a very fine grit on my face (like rice flour), yet a thicker layer (like how one applies a typical mask) dries in about 15 minutes and then balls/rolls off in chunks. I have tried two jars from two production runs, and they perform the same. HOWEVER, for all the disappointment to the “experience” of using this mask, in the end it does leave my face feeling somehow AMAZINGLY soft… baby bottom soft!! So I’m on the fence how to rate this. I’ll keep looking for a mask that works as well but also is an enjoyable experience to use.

I wish I didn’t have to give a star rating because this is so subjective but…I bought this because it felt lovely when applied during a facial I got at Cheeks. For several days after my facial my skin was more sensitive than usual. After a week I tried this product thinking it would help restore moisture to my skin, but it stung. Removed after a couple minutes and now my skin is irritated again a day later. I have had irritation from the osea lotion before as well and gifted it to a friend. Sadly I’m realizing this brand may just not agree with my skin.
