These were comfortable right out of the box, but became even more comfortable after some extensive walking, as my foot settled into the foot bed. I think it kind of molds to your foot over time. One small downside: the strap across the instep began to rub after a weekend of constant wear and much walking. I will have to check into whether making adjustments will prevent this. Having three straps to adjust means you can really get a custom fit.
