Clarifying Mask

Not many face masks can pull off clarifying + hydrating at the same time, but this one does. How? Because its first ingredient is honey and its second ingredient is clay... and somehow it manages to balance the two, along with AHA's, BHA's and a whole host of botanicals. This is actually the first Tata Harper product I've ever tried and I have to admit I'm impressed. Yes the brands' whole 'green' philosophy, green luxury packaging, and in this case green-colored contents might come across as trying too hard to 'appear' green, but it's safe to say that what's in the product definitely lives up to that philosophy, and better still, it works! Immediately I noticed my pores looked cleared and tighter, and my skin smoother, brighter and more balanced - hydrated and yet clarified, but not 'stripped'. All I do is apply a thin layer (instructions say use a thick layer but I find no further improvement when doing that) and leave it on for about 15 minutes. The aroma of this mask is pleasant - botanical and green (of course!) with a light citrus wafting through. It does also contain exfoliating particles which you feel particularly when you wash this off, although with plenty of exfoliating acids already in here, I don't feel any manual exfoliation is really necessary. In fact I usually use an exfoliator 'before' a mask in order to get dead skin cells out of the way first, and allow the mask to work better on the actual skin surface. But all in all an excellent mask: as good for helping to flatten the odd pimple that might appear every so often, as it is for helping my skin to retain moisture, this is one very impressive multi-tasking mask with a seriously natural slant when it comes to ingredients. I got a sample of this recently and after just one use I went back for a whole jar. This product works like a chemical exfoliant with the enzymes as well as a physical exfoliant with tiny beads sloughing all my skin smooth. I love the smell of this. It leaves my skin bright and smooth. I'm using it every other day to help resurface some scarring from blemishes.
