What it does: Crafted from the brand's legendary cast iron for superior heat distribution, this purpose-built shape is designed to produce professional-quality results. The shallow depth is great for stirring sauces and serving dishes directly from stove to oven to table.

Additional features: A domed lid traps and circulates steam for maximum rise and ultimate flavor, while the low-profile base promotes even browning and produces a golden, crispy crust marked with Le Creuset's hallmark three rings. With an easy-to-clean interior enamel and ergonomic knobs and handles, it makes it effortless to bake like the experts at home.

Compatible heat sources: Gas, electric, ceramic, halogen, induction and oven; oven safe up to 500°F.

I own 2 of these!

These are amazing pots. Pricey, sure, but you get what you pay for. My grandchildren will be able to use these pots.

A home shopping site has these on sale for much less. I almost purchased but glad that I did my research.

Out of box item sent: warning

I was utterly shocked to find that an "Out of Box" Le Creuset oval Dutch oven was delivered. It was not in the Le Creuset original packing. It did not have the four plastic lid protectors. It had the Le Creuset label removed (with a sticky mess left on the pot). It was packed with paper, scotch tape and a rubber band holding the top on. I called Customer Care and requested a reduction in price, which was rejected. I sent photos. I need the pot. I hate to think what would happen if I returned it...would someone else receive it without paying an out of box price Would I receive another out of box item?? Real lack of respect for a customer and seemingly no quality control. This is a beautiful Le Creuset product and the company would be shocked to know how little care is taken.

Second LC - fun shape

This is my second Le Creuset. I love it! The shape is fun, too. I was a little worried as I have a small stove, but it seems to be totally fine & heat easily. Worth the money, even if the price tag is a little scary.
