Penny Boot (Women)

I am THOROUGHLY impressed by this Sam Edelman boot. Products often advertise "wide calf," but they never deliver. This boot delivers on EVERYTHING: size, calf width, style, color and functionality. My calves measure at 19.25 inches. I can zip this boot up with my leggings/skinny jeans tucked inside. The color is great with the dyed toe and heel. The actual boot fits true to size for a nice medium-width foot if you're purchasing the M-width. The first time I wore the boot, I had it on for seven hours without a problem of trying to break in new leather footwear. All I can say is, "THEY GOT IT RIGHT!" This boot is worth every penny!

I wish these would have worked for me, they are a great color (whiskey) but a couple of things to note.. they are pretty tall on my 5'5" build. I felt they were too tall and looked a tad silly on me. Also, I'll add a photo but they are so tight in the ankle region that they were wrinkly with any movement. I'll wait for my senior years to accept a saggy looking ankle but I don't want one now. :-) Last thing to note was the zipper was difficult to pull up over the heel, even though I had plenty of room there. I felt like I'd break the pull I had to tug it so hard. One especially, made me break a sweat to get it up. Sent them back. Oh, and I ordered the wide based on other reviews and it truly did feel like a regular width. I imagine the regular width would be ridiculously narrow. The length though was true to size in my opinion. No need to size up in that regard.

I was SO EXCITED about these boots. I've shopped around quite a bit for the perfect riding boots and thought these were them, but I had the same problem some of the other reviewers had. The coloring is all wrong. It really doesn't look like the picture online! As other reviewers have said, they don't look as nice/expensive as they do online - some parts of them make them look cheap. Online the black on the toe looks elegant and subtle but in person it was more concentrated (see pic). I just didn't like it. Also there were some places that looked damaged and like they had stains on them - a friend of mine commented that it looked like they used something to seal the leather and it dripped or didn't apply evenly. The spots in question were clear and shiny. This would not have kept me from keeping them if the color was right, but it wasn't. As far as the feel of the leather, that is nice, and I really liked the buttons, but overall this is a no go for me. I shouldn't have ignored the negative reviews, though I think this must not happen on every boot or the overall rating wouldn't be so high. I hope you have better luck than me! The picture really is beautiful.

When I was in Nordy's this morning, I saw this boot at the register. It had just come in. I thought it was the Frye boot that I had been drooling over, but didn't want to spend the $$$ on. I decided to try it on....it was perfect (and so is this color)! It's so comfortable, the fit is great, they slipped right on, no struggling! I usually wear a 7 1/2 or 8 (the 8's are perfect in these). They were so comfortable around my calf, which is, I think, average size (around 14"). They also had them in black! Think I'm gonna get them too, the price is also very reasonable. A very well made boot!!! Don't hesitate to get it!

I love these boots. Due to an injury, my left calf will always be too wide for regular width boots. I've never had a pair of riding style boots because the boots I've been able to find have had side zippers. The back zipper on this boot makes getting it on over jeans so easy and keeps the silhouette of a riding boot. I wore them for an entire work day right out of the box and they didn't hurt at all. I find that I even walk taller when I'm wearing them.

I have very "athletic" calves. The other reviews said that the wide calf boots was too wide so to just go with the regular... Don't listen to them! I ordered the regular cut and could not even zip the boot past my achilles. I exchanged them for the wide cut and now they fit comfortably. No loss of circulation here! My only worry about these boots is the length of the leg shaft. I am extremely short (under 5ft) so the shaft hits the back of my knee when I sit and bend my legs. It's a bit annoying but I think I will get use to it.
