Edlef Slip-On (Men)

These are very comfortable to wear. The leather is very soft and molds to your foot. Sizing appears to be as expected. My only complaint is that the sole is very soft and flexible. When I was a bit younger that might have been a good thing, but now it is painful to walk for any period of time due to some foot problems. I would also note that these are impossible to shine. the soft open pore leather is intended as a casual shoe and does not hold a shine. If you are considering these for business you might consider that.

Like many European style shoes these days, the sole is non-existent and really not suitable for every use outdoors or on the sidewalk. Your feet feel every bump. Also, the styling looked more in wear indoors with a smoking jacket. Too old man even for me. Really is not a shoe, more like a leather slipper.

My favorite shoes for several years has been a pair of Mephisto slip-ons. I purchased these as a replacement and was disappointed. The sole on these shoes are thinner and, in my opinion, not suitable for the kind of use I wanted: a good walking shoe over a variety of surfaces. These are more like what I would call a driving shoe - very comfortable for casual walking and the office work place - but not for extended standing or walking. I have returned these shoes.

I've been wearing Rockport for a long time, and always wanted to try out Mephisto but was put off by the price. With the 30% Anniversary Sale discount I final bit the bullet and am amazed at how light and comfortable this shoe is. A good blend of casual and semi-dressy... I've worn them with shorts and suits. They are perhaps a little large.... but I would hesitate to step down a half-size for fear of them being too tight. You won't regret purchasing these shoes.
