Studio Fix Powder Plus Matte Foundation

I have been using this powder for 15 years, it’s the best powder foundation i have ever tried. No matter what liquid foundation I wear, I always set it with this. I don’t like natural makeup I like more full coverage but this powder is very versatile. If you like more natural use a more fluffy brush. For more coverage use a dense brush or sponge. This gives me a very flawless and airbrushed finish and I will never stop using it! Even when I try to use a different powder to switch it up I always end up going back to this the very next day because nothing compares. Gives me a very smooth and matte finish for an airbrushed look.

As a 39-year-old, I still have the skin of a teen - and that's not always a good thing. I'm oily with medium-sized pores, blackheads/clogged pores, little white bumps, inclined to breakout (mainly chin into sides of lower cheeks), and deal with hormonal-induced-cysts that amount to nothing but ugly bumps. Additionally, I have recently developed sun spots that range from very light to light. The silver lining here folks, is that I have nary a wrinkle or fine line. High-five, oily skin. I'm confident and know my appearance doesn't define me. I'm cute with make-up on and not cute without it. No biggie. I own my teenager-y skin, thin facial features, weird-textured-brow-hairs, parents-couldn't-afford-braces smile. I also know that my complexion needs covered up, it's unsightly at times. A powder that is easy-to-use and provides excellent coverage is as important to me (and others) as my deodorant. I had used Lancôme for years and thought I liked it. While on vacation a couple of years ago, I shattered what remained of my face powder and needed to replace it immediately (remember: face powder = deodorant). There was a drugstore near the resort so I settled on a Revlon version. Noticing that this drug store brand did 95% of what the Lancôme did, lasted just as long, but was 30% of the price, I began wearing the Revlon in favor of the Lancôme. But I knew there had to be a better option for those blessed with problem skin. The Revlon and Lancôme were just OK. They did a fine job, really. I don't have any major complaints other than the fact that I was constantly running out and needing more - monthly, it seemed. The coverage was better than most but just barely acceptable for someone with my needy skin. I began reading review sites done by third parties (if you do the same, be certain they're IMPARTIAL - this is HUGE). Come to find out, my complexion issues were not unique and certainly tame considering what others experience. I kept reading about MAC's Studio Fix line. I'd never used MAC before so I researched it. Everything looked good, I liked what I read, so I tried it. It's taken me hours to type this review one-handed. The other is still patting my back. This is - without a doubt - one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life. I get how dramatic that sounds and I even questioned making such a bold statement. The thing is, it's true. If you have an unhappy complexion and you've spent the past 25 years looking for a way to conceal yet enhance your skin, you'd be shouting it from the mountaintops too. So here I am. It's perfect. I love it. It's very fairly priced. And it lasts FOREVER - I use it daily and am halfway through my first powder purchase from 3 months ago. Thanks, MAC. Ihave been using this for 20 years. I have 50/50 skin and am 64 years old, this does not go into the creases/lines. Also does not slide off the oily spots on my face. I have tried to go with a dewy look with high end Armani and it looks awful on me. I think I now have a hang-up with liquids and putting studio fix on my face makes me feel like I am only wearing powder. I can make it light or heavy with application. I've been using makeup since my teens and have worked up from drug store to very high end (it's a long time as I am 64). I always return to Mac, and I did try the mineral makeup that has become so popular, but that went into the creases and for some reason made me itch. Getting back to studio fix - best Mac product out there. I have stopped looking for anything else and own 3 different shades to match the different colors of my face during the spring, summer and winter months. Can't say enough about this product, worth every penny! Also I have been stopped by women asking me what I use on my face as it makes my skin appear flawless.

This Powder Plus Foundation is ideal fo my lifestyle. I am at the horse barn daily. I ride 4 out of 7 days. This powder keeps me presentable all day long. Sometimes when going out to dinner or a party I think I need a "real" foundation..Always regret that and go back to my Mac Powder Plus.

Finding a silicone-free foundation invariably means turning to powder foundations, and not all powder foundations are created equally! MAC's is one of the better ones. My skin is oily/combination which veers a lot more towards 'oily' during the warmest months. Blotting papers are literally a staple with me wherever I go. Although I won't go as far as saying I no longer need them, I do seem to be using less of them since using this foundation. The oil does break through eventually, but I get a good several hours shine-free before it does. The coverage is medium and easily buildable up to full coverage, whilst the makeup texture itself is velvety and has a matte finish. I always use a moisture mist after applying it and not just to help set it, but because it can look cakey otherwise, especially when it's anything more than medium coverage. Also, despite it hiding my pores well, it does unfortunately accentuate my dry/flaky patches, which even oily skin types (such as mine) are susceptible to, unless I stay on top of exfoliating and moisturizing properly. My guess is this could end up looking pretty awful on dry/dehydrated skin types unless you use a ton of moisturizer beforehand. One other thing worth noting is that you can apply this on top of any liquid foundation, which minimizes the 'cakiness' when trying to aim for full coverage, and in that case you just need to 'press' it onto your skin with the sponge applicator, once the liquid foundation of your choice has been applied and given a minute to sink in.
