Best diptyque smell ever
I was very disappointed in This candle at first, it smelled exactly like Church incense, strong patchouli smell right out of the box before lit. It also smelled like strong version of fu de boi. But once I lit it, I was looking around the room to see where this heavenly smell was coming from because I couldn't believe it was from this candle! Once lit, it smelled EXACTLY like fresh cut bouquet of flowers (fresh roses and lily) with a background of fresh clean smell of patchouli and sweet warm winter smell of sandalwood (fu de boi). I am amazed. I wear diptyque Eau Lante, which is cinnamon and vanilla and incense type of smell. I like soft sweet but clean smell, not typical vanilla or patchouli. So this one is exactly my type of smell.

WOW!!! REALLY?????
I lit this candle for 2 hours straight, and the whole time it smelled of absolutely NOTHING! The only time I was able to smell anything was when I had the jar right next to my nose!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if I got an old candle, a bad candle, or if this is how it should be!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For $64 dollars I DO expect quality. If you have a big room, you won't be able to smell this candle at all. Its scent is TOO soft and TOO weak for a big room. I think this is good for a very small room like a bathroom. I'm very disappointed.

Better than Baies
Diptyque is the best and their Oud is the very very best. Everything you want in a candle - warm, sexy, comforting, evocative, sweet, dark, happy. The best way I can describe this candle it is like tasting chocolate for the first time - wonderous, life altering and life affirming. Luv it.

very oud and strong
Strong earthy, musky, masculine which I like. You don't even need to light it, the smell just wafts around the room. However it can feel overpowering. I balance it with diptyque's Baies/Berries candle. The local Nordstrom store was really awesome to help with the selections. May not be everyone's cup of tea though.

Gift for hospital worker
Video chat with sister elicited comment about candles I was burning. Since our conversation was about her increasing need to recharge after work, I sent this. “Smells amazing & sets me up for relaxing and very time I light it” You just can’t go wrong saying thank you with one o these beauties.

Try in person before ordering if possible.
I usually like scents with oud, perhaps they need to be tempered with other notes like rose, or patchouli, but this candle is acrid and piercing. I took one sniff of the box and had to return it. Perhaps it better when lit but that would have been too expensive of an experiment to risk not being to return it. Try before you order.
