Mini Lou Matelassé Leather Camera Bag

I was really looking forward to receiving this YSL bag, especially considering the high price tag and Nordstrom’s reputation for quality and service. However, I was honestly quite disappointed when the package arrived. The bag came in a plain black pouch — not the original YSL dust bag — and it was placed in a generic box with no branded packaging whatsoever. When you purchase a luxury item like this, a big part of the experience is the presentation and authenticity. I expected it to arrive in the original YSL box, with the proper tags and documentation. Receiving it in unbranded, basic packaging made the entire experience feel less special and even raised concerns about whether the item was truly new or handled properly. For the price and the prestige associated with both YSL and Nordstrom, I expected better. At the very least, Nordstrom should clearly state in the product description if original packaging is not included, so customers know what to expect. This purchase didn’t meet the standard I’ve come to associate with Nordstrom, and that’s really disappointing. I hope Nordstrom takes feedback like this seriously, especially for those of us who are loyal customers and expect transparency and consistency when buying luxury goods. To make things worse, I’m honestly not even sure if the bag I received was brand new. The chain strap looks much darker than what was shown in the product photo, and it doesn’t have that new, polished look you would expect. It almost appears tarnished or used, which makes me wonder if this was a return that was sent out again without proper inspection. When you spend this much on a designer item, you expect not just quality but an overall luxury experience — including proper packaging, clear authenticity, and attention to detail. This purchase fell short on all of those fronts.

I ordered this YSL bag because it’s so convenient to order from Nordstrom versus Saint Laurent. But the bag arrives with very little packaging and no YSL bag. Customer service tells me that I have to return it the bag and order a new one for a chance to receive the box and dust bag. Extremely disappointing.

I ordered this bag twice and both times there were wrinkles in the leather on the left half of bag, but not the right. For paying this price for a tiny bag, I don’t want wrinkle indents on the leather. I don’t think it’s Nordstroms fault, but YSL should have better quality control. Color is much darker than pictured as well.
