Laneway Totepack Backpack

The back pack straps are super long and don't adjust nicely because the extra strap material has nowhere to go. The tote straps are very simple, non-adjustable and slippery. The bag is otherwise nice and appears well made with good material. It is what you would expect for a convertible bag. It is probably good for a vacation as a practical 2-in-1 item, but not nice enough for an everyday, go-to bag.

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend who travels often and needed a sturdier bag. She's commented that it's really comfortable when used as a backpack and allowed for her move around more easily. When it arrived we were both really impressed with how it's laid out and the space in it, it fits a normal sized laptop with enough space for everything else someone may have.

I really love the functionality of this backpack — it’s super well-designed with great compartments and feels comfortable to wear. However, I had to knock off some stars because of the material. I ordered one of the lighter colors, and unfortunately, it stains very easily. Even just brushing up against things during normal use left visible marks and unable to remove. For the price, I expected something a bit more durable. If you’re considering this bag, I’d recommend going for a darker color to avoid the same issue.

This might just be the perfect bag that I’ve been looking for for YEARS. I’m not usually a huge fan of convertible bags because they typically do neither style well. However, I’m pleased with the look of this bag as a tote (and the straps are the perfect length to easily hook over my shoulder without catching on my elbow, but not so long that it touches the ground if hand-held). As a backpack, it’s surprisingly comfortable even with heavy items packed inside. It’s roomy, but doesn’t feel like it overwhelms my 5’2” frame. And little details like the stiffened loops for the backpack strap clips, the key leash, and the thingies that keep the loose ends of the adjustable backpack straps from flapping about make for a super functional, smart design. It’s nice enough that I can take it to my office, and feels sturdy enough despite the light weight to be a great travel day bag. I can easily fit my 14” laptop and its accessories, 24 oz water bottle, umbrella, continental sized wallet, lunch containers, sunglasses case, and a light jacket, with a little room to spare. I haven’t tested it in rain yet, but the material feels like it would keep out several minutes of light rain. I’m excited to use this for years to come.
