Jumbo Good Genes Face Treatment $284 Value

This is my very first product review for Nordstrom ever! However, I want other women of a certain age ( I'm 56 1/2), to know about this lovely product that actually works without hydroquinone. I've used absolutely everything to lighten my hyperpigmentation (freckles, sun damage on fair skin). From my very first attempt with the drugstore brand called "Porcelana" at age 16 to the medical grade, plastic surgeon and dermatologist recommended Obagi Nu Derm System..I have literally tried everything from high end products to inexpensive drugstore brands. I even tried the inventor of Obagi products, Dr.Zein Obagi's new skincare line, ZO Skin Health, Inc. Yes, they work over time. But, Sunday Riley's Good Genes not only works, it shows immediate results! My face's complexion was noticably even and without any of the redness that my fair skin normally gets right away with any product.I use, even for sensitive skin. If you are like me and generally think the ingredients in an OTC product like Good Genes (Lactic Acid, Licorice, Squalane, Yeast Extract, Lemongrass, Arnica, etc) sounds nice but can't possibly work on truely older hyperpigmented skin, you are in for a surprise! The only thing I feel that would make Sunday Riley's Good Genes better is the added benefit of the Luna Sleeping Oil. This overnight combination leaves my skin soft, and luminous in the a.m. I think that's saying quite a bit for women "of a certain age"

When it comes to Alpha Hydroxy Acids my skin prefers Lactic over Glycolic any day, as it's gentler, and this formula containing Lactic plus Licorice and a host of botanicals is good stuff! I try not to use anything containing AHA's during the daytime as I'm never convinced I've reapplied my SPF sufficiently to protect against the very strong southern Florida sun. For that reason I use it on a night time only. The texture of Good Genes is light and would suit most skin types I'd imagine, other than possibly sensitive. Having an oilier skin type myself, I find I usually don't need to use a moisturizer once I've applied this as it hydrates sufficiently on its own. Results-wise: I found my skin tone generally brighter within a week of starting use and also it feels much smoother - definitely down to the Lactic Acid. It does contain silicones, however they are thankfully much further down the ingredients list then most silicone-containing products, therefore not a huge issue for me. The fragrance of this serum reminds me of a citrus sherbet meets Lemongrass, it's strangely appealing and yet somewhat not at the same time! Speaking of oils I came across concerns in other reviews about the 'essential oils' in the formulation so I did a spot of detective work... of the 2 oils in here, Meadowfoam Seed Oil is a non-photo toxic carrier oil and Lemongrass oil is an essential oil, although not a photo toxic one either, and therefore no reason for concern. I got this as a sample from Nordstroms a year ago. I am on my 3rd bottle and I will tell you it is the most surprising serum I have ever seen, tried or heard of. Worth every penny, you will honestly have an "obsession worthy glow". My internist complimented me on my skin and said :that's because of he estrogen you are taking". Wrong. Not taking estrogen. Using Good Genes! I have never seen a product like this. I wear it with Sunday Riley face oils and her Collagen Moisturizer and nothing else. You will not even need foundation. This product has knocked 15 years off of my face. And I have tried almost every serum out there. This one deserves its patent. Sunday Riley, you are a genius!

Good genes is a love it or hate it product. For me, it's everything. Instant gratification. From night one my acne scars were faded, skin was glowing and plump. If I could only keep one product in my skincare, this would be it. Whether or not it works for you is mostly dependant on how your skin does with lactic acid. Some people do better with glycolic acid, and some people do better with lactic. My skin (normal to dry) hates glycolic. I use this every night, but I use way less than directed. You do not need a lot of this to get results. 1 pump is way more product than you need and this stuff isn't cheap. I do a little less than half a pump before I go to bed and my skin is glowy, plump and has eliminated my fine lines.

I was excited to try this product. The reviews are very high, but it isn’t for my type of skin. I applied it for 15 minutes 3 days ago. Since then, my skin is red, blotchy, dry, flaky and burns when I apply my usual daily lotion and products. Photo taken 3 days post application. Happy for those of you who love this product. I’m hoping my skin calms down soon.

This lactic acid treatment is a chemical exfoliant that you use after you wash your face, but before you moisturize. It has a creamy lotion consistency and a little goes a very long way. I've been using it for about 4 months now, but I saw instant results the first day in the appearance of my pores and the little tiny wrinkles near my eyes. I use it only in the morning because I think my skin might be too sensitive to use it twice a day. This treatment plumps up my skin, so all of my large pores and tiny eye wrinkles just smooth right out. I still use a primer, but I hardly need any now, and before, I used to need a lot. This stuff is very expensive by my standards, but I make it part of my routine because I love the results so much. I have always wanted to have a smoother texture on my face and I have finally found something that gives me this. I follow this treatment with a drop of the Sunday Riley U.F.O. Face Oil mixed in with my moisturizer ( I use different moisturizers depending on time of year and how my skin is behaving). I can't really speak to the lightening claims because I didn't really have any dark spots on my face before. For reference, I have oily skin. I'm 43, fair complexion. I am a scientist and a beauty enthusiast, so I research everything I try and I haven't tried anything I like more than this stuff. I have acne scars from when I was very young, and this treatment is improving their texture as well. I can't say enough about how much I love this treatment. If you have sensitive skin, start conservatively with one or two times a week, then work your way up to using it more often as your skin adjusts.
