Like it even more by the day
I was looking for something to replace my Jansport Superbreak, and I narrowed down to 'Settlement Mid Volume' (black with metal zippers) and Marc by Marc Jacobs Domo Arigato Packrat Backpack (black with metal zippers). I know, I know, the price tags have $140 difference, and they aren't supposed to be competed, but I think their looks are similar enough to be equally tempting.
So I went to youtube and tried to find anyone sharing real life information about those bags (i.e., how the bags look in everyday light, in normal poses, etc.). I really loved how 'Settlement Mid Volume' looked, despite one Youtube mentioning the metal zipper could get stuck sometimes.
I placed an order through Nordstrom, thinking that I can return it for free in case I'm not happy with it after all. To be honest, when I first saw it, I thought it was too stiff - meaning it's not as causal-looking as something like Jansport Superbreak. Also, it doesn't look as spacious as those youtube videos suggested. I was tempted to exchange for the "Settlement" in normal volume. However, I convinced myself to just hang the bag over a hook for 2-3 days with some stuffs in it (makeup bags, snacks, etc.), and see what's gonna happen.
I'm so glad I didn't return it, because the more I use it, the more I enjoy how it goes with every outfit. Granted, it will never be as relaxed-looking as Superbreak, but it's more than a school backpack! I even carry it when I go to shopping malls or run errands around town. The black and gold metal zippers make a perfect look.
P.S. granted, the metal zipper is not as smooth as a plastic one, but I have no problem with it so far, and if anything happens, I believe it's covered within the Herschel one-year warranty.

So so
The color of the product looked good in the picture but it looked a little ugly to me. Also the zipper does not get zipped smoothly. I had to send it back :( but overall, herscheys backpacks are very cool! Well made, great material, and great style.

Excellent look and size
I think this is categorized in the women's section, but I bought it regardless because of it's sleek look and compact size. The brass zippers in my opinion make this look more sophisticated and higher quality in appearance. Because of the brass zippers, it looks versatile between my preppy, outdoorsy, and streetwear style. I absolutely love it for its practicality because it's not too big and perfect for on-the-go and for my biking in the city. I especially like the key clip built in the front pocket. Nice touch! I wish Herschel and Nordstrom offers more selections in mid volume backpacks!

Great little backback!
This backpack is fantastic! It's not too big and it's not crazy small...perfect size considering I bike all over the city and sometimes my side bag just doesn't cut it!
This may not be the best size for a good backpack to travel with but its perfect for everyday use! I love it and already want to purchase another in a different color!

love this bag
I got tired of carrying my purse, lunch bag, sunglasses, keys, etc to and from my car/work, so I decided I needed a backpack. This bag is the perfect size to fit everything.
I have my book, calendar book, lunch, wallet, checkbook and everything else in this bag and it feels great to be basically hands-free. It's comfortable, durable and I love the simple look it has.
Only issue is the zipper sometimes gets stuck and is not as smooth as I like it to be, but I can look past that. I'm planning on using it when I travel also.

Perfect for Small Child
I purchased this and thought it would be a nice light weight alternative to knock around the campus in but upon un-boxing this I quite literally laughed out loud. It is so tiny. This is definitely not for university students / college level. I would think this would work for a middle school child or at the very oldest a high school student. I was really disappointed because I loved the polka dot look. It's very chic & fresh.
