French Terry Crop Drawstring Pants

I loved the idea of a French terry crop pant with a bit of a wider leg. I had already bought the Nordy French Terry boxy nautical stripe top with the intention to pair it with these pants in navy for a perfect airplane travel outfit. Unfortunately, these pants didn't get the memo. The order came quickly (I ordered a Large) and I found the fabric was kind of cool and slinky for French terry when I pulled them out of the box and tried them on. It felt more like a thicker jersey knit, which yes, FT is a knit, but I was hoping it would be more classic FT like the top I'd also purchased. The L pants were probably the right size, but the cut was not a no-go. The pants clung to all the wrong parts of me, which would be my hips, thighs and saddlebags. Not the look I was going for! The crop length was perfect but the rest was....HARD NO. I ordered the same pants in the XL just to see if that would be a baggier fit like shown on the model in the website. They just arrived today and are a no-go, too. The XL felt more comfortable on than the L, and didn't feel weird and cling to my inner thighs like the L did. The length was longer (like how they look on the model, barely a whiff of crop) but they still didn't look and fit right on my body - you could still see where my hips and saddlebags started-and because of this I am returning both pairs. I think these pants are probably the perfect style for an Apple body shape, where they have a belly, but great legs, or a Swimmers body, long and lean. The pants would hang right on those body types, like shown on the model, who probably has that long-lean swimmers body (no real hip/waist definition and definitely no hips and saddlebags).
