Figuier (Fig Tree) Classic Candle

im not a big floral lover but i occasionally crave the smell of flowers and the gardenia is my all time fav . ive smell countless gardenia fragrances in both perfume form and candle and diptyques version is among the top of my list in regard to emulating the smell of them . gardenias are one of those selfish flowers that wont give up its essence ; it will die before its natural essence can be extracted , thus the smell of gardenias has to be emulated instead by combining other florals to mimic it's smell , typically jasmine and tuberose together . with this candle the initial hours of burning produce a very nice and somewhat realistic gardenia , heavy on the jasmine / tuberose , green , buttery , and a vague blue cheese accord (that may sound odd but for those who are very familiar with perfumes and gardenias youll know real ones have a subtle blue veined cheesiness) . as the candle approaches the halfway point and especially as it burns down to the end it becomes somewhat discordant . instead of all the various floral and non floral notes blending to smell like gardenia it resorts to smelling predominantly of jasmine (and the jasmine diptyque candle too) as it loses whatever was binding all those notes together . this doesnt make the fragrance unpleasant by any means , it just shifts the direction of the candle from "gardenia" to a white floral . ironically at that point the throw increases , prior to that i found it to be only moderate to sometimes below avg . i had the candle burning in a small room for the 1st few hours and it was noticeable but not quite as big as i wanted . i cant consider this a flaw however as the intent of the candle may be to have only a subtle gardenia . some ppl consider gardenias to be almost bestial in their aroma but if youre like me and love them i wish this candle was a bit more potent

I was SO excited to receive this candle. It smelled wonderful from inside the box, but it has absolutely no scent while burning. I don’t understand. For the price it should fill my entire house with wonderful smells. I’ve burned it so I don’t believe I can return it at this point. Huge disappointment

Surprisingly, I only recently purchased Gardenia for the first time. And I am sure glad I did! This candle could not smell more like actual gardenias, which is truly amazing. The throw is terrific, and the scent lingers long after you've extinguished the candle. I have about eight candles that I'm burning at the moment (not all at once, of course) and Gardenia has been among my favorites. I can't believe I waited so long to purchase this scent, and have already ordered more.

I have wanted this candle for so long, but Icouldn't justify the price on my budget.-I got it with a gift certificate. I will never be without it again. It is the most beautiful scent , and my room always smells like "me" now. At my best and happiest. Yes, I do believe a candle can make you happy.
