Matte Fluid Lip Color

I am not sure if the formula itself is of poor quality or I got an old/compromised quality from Nordstrom. The formula separated as soon as it was applied and ran over the edges of my lips. It dried unevenly and was nearly translucent. I’ve had lipgloss with more coverage and for the price, it’s shocking it’s not a higher quality formula. Returned!

I buy products based on packaging first because if I'm going to spend any money on makeup, I need it to be a beautiful, well-made item inside AND out. I thus was very excited to receive this lipstick--I love how it's wearable and looks like a magical vial of some special elixir. However, I was so sad when I opened the red box only to find a hunk of cheap, albeit pretty plastic. I was expecting it to be made of some sort of metal and glass, especially considering the price and the fact that Louboutin designed it to be an objet d'art. Unfortunately, it looks more like a toy in real life because of the plastic. A really, really cute toy, but still. It's definitely not the objet d'art experience I was hoping for. The mermaid tail detailing on the tube is lovely, though, and it feels sturdy--at least it won't scratch or break if you drop it, like metal or glass would. It also feels nice in the hand because it has a little more heft than you would expect for a lipstick in a plastic tube of this size, but not nearly as much as it would have if it weren't made of plastic. I consider that to be a flaw. However, I must admit that the lipstick itself is exquisite, possibly the best liquid matte lipstick I have ever used. I selected the Multimiss shade and I'm glad I did--it is a pure, perfect blue-red color that makes my teeth look whiter. It goes on so smoothly, and one swipe packs an insane amount of pigmentation; I don't even need to go back in the tube for more to finish applying to my lips. It dries quickly to a velvety soft matte finish and does not bleed. After I applied it, I immediately blotted my lips and saw not a single mark on the tissue. I kept it on while I ate lunch a couple hours later and it still looked the same--that is, perfect. In fact, as much as the plastic packaging irks me, this a product that I will save for special occasions. It's that good. So if you have the money, want amazing, longlasting lip color, and don't care about the tube being a fancy piece of art, this lipstick is for you. If you want both high lipstick performance and luxurious packaging that looks as fancy in real life as it does online, though, look elsewhere.
