Cotton Gauze Button-Up Shirt

I am fair skinned so I like to have lightweight, gauzy cotton shirts to throw on if I’m in the sun. This shirt looked like it would fit the bill but it’s like a double-thick cotton. It would be way too warm to wear in a SoCal summer. It’s also really long like a tunic. If I were to tuck it in, there would be so much fabric that I wouldn’t be able to zip my pants.

I have a large collection of Caslon tops - all in size Small. This technically matches all of those but the cut is very different and I can see why other reviewers said "too big" and "runs large". The dropped shoulders indicated to me that the fit would be loose so I bought this with the intention or wearing with jeans over long & short-sleeved t-shirts as summer evenings cool to autumn chills. I was half right. The broad shoulder seams translate into a wider bodice - at least a whole size up. The sleeves are actually quite narrow; my long sleeved t-shirts will need to be of thin fabric. And yes, the front-tucked look will work but this is modeled and wears like the tunic length shown. The fabric is a very soft gauze with an almost flannel-like softness that feel really nice. I bought this on a good sale and will keep it; at full price, I might have been returning it for the odd fit.
